"The Abbey Residence has a rooming house feel. We had a spacious room with large but dated ensuite. The walls could use a lick of paint, but there were no real issues with the room. Wifi was good and our room had a good sized Roku based smart TV with lots of streaming options. Parking in central Edinburgh is hard so leave your car at the Abbey Residence and catch the bus into town from the bus stop just across the road. "Great place to stay and would again. Old castle, so you have the historical vibes of the place. Had restraunt on site, only hade breakfast here and was good. Have onsite-bar and outside seating to enjoy the grounds. On outskirts of city, so very quiet, vast grounds to walk. Had a lift for luggage movement. Staff was great, location quiet. "Lovely ground floor room , with great amenities. Fantastic welcome from Allessio on the reception desk, he couldn’t have been more helpful and nothing was too much trouble. My only concern was there was no rubber mat in the shower and I found the floor very slippery."
