We were due to arrive outside the normal check in times, so we spoke to Richard who arranged a key pick up point and gave clear concise instructions. Nothing was too much. Thank you all for a great stay, we would definitely come again.
A lovely find. We arrived late but the super friendly staff rustled up two delicious pizzas (well worth a try😀) Breakfast was lovely and makes you think we missed out on the main menu by being late. Our room was clean but a tad tired. That said it was very comfortable and had everything we needed. A nice quiet location. Give it a go, you won’t regret it!

Great location in a quiet village. Staff were friendly and good good. Room was the suite and although quite dated was clean and comfortable. Bathroom desperately needs refurbishment with cracks in sink and vinyl flooring wearing thin,1990's style. Carpets in corridors and room grubby and in need of a clean but bedding and rest of room clean enough for a good stay.
We were the only room occupied and going down to breakfast at 9am we found no staff and the restaurant and bar areas locked. Finally a couple of members of staff turned up at 920am so luckily we did not have to be somewhere otherwise we would not have had time to eat.
All in all a pleasant stay but if you are looking for 'lovely' this is not for you. It will remain 'ok' until they up their game. Could be amazing with some TLC.

Loads of potential
People were really welcoming! The pub is lovely and they offer lovely food which is delicious. The room was quirky and had loads of potential but the bathroom was really dirty. Toilet bowl had stains from person using it. The shower seal was brown and the shower head was covered in limescale. Also the kettle top had marks on it and in closer inspection inside it had old water inside and also covered in limescale.

Would recommend!
We stayed one night as a couple. The room was a little tired and could do with updating. However, it was clean and the bedding and towels were spotless and fresh. The bathroom was also cleaned to a high standard and a variety of toiletries were supplied.
There was plenty of tea and coffee, biscuits etc in the room and these were very welcome.
We ate in the restaurant in the evening and our meals were excellent. Breakfast was also to a very high standard.
Overall, very good value for money.
I really liked the location and feel of the pub. It was busy when i arrived but had no issues checking in. The room was comfortable and well presented.
I was very disappointed with the 0730 breakfast. As a facility within reach of London, only starting breakfast at 0730, and that means not being ready to serve at 0730 , it meant coffee needed until 0745 everything needed cooking. I settled for a quick sandwich and no drink, no cereal was availabile whilst waiting for the delayed breakfast and coffee.
We would stay again, food excellent, bed comfortable with a great fan.
The pub could do with a tidy, bin bags near the bar and one of the tables being used an office isnt a great look.
The room was functional, slightly tired.
Stayed for one night only and really enjoyed our stay. Room & bathroom was clean, nicely decorated, served good food and the breakfast was excellent! Overall a pleasant stay and will definitely revisit if in the area again.
Food was good, beer was good, staff very helpful. Unfortunately I hate woodchip and there was quite a bit in the room but it’s an old building and so it’s probably the right stuff to use.

Disliked: Amenities
Arriving ,good parking, looked modern and inviting. We were led up steep narrow stairs extreme low head height in places to our room . Comfortable beds but could do with a better cleaner divan base was grubby. All amenities provided. Evening Meals were fairly expensive including children’s meals , breakfast suppled with room but only sparse choice on menu fine if you wanted cooked breakfast . Only there for one night but unluckily picked Quiz night brilliant for locals but as a family of four (2 young children )after a long journey wanting sleep 10-00pm plus the microphone quiz was very loud under our room . Notice should be given on booking of this event happening . Then choice could be made . Departure time given as 11-00am found two kitchen staff manning the pub with no knowledge of how to check us out . Not very professionally ran business. Wouldn’t return , but good place for local residents

Disliked: Cleanliness
The bed was awful, when my husband turned over it was like being bounced off a lilo in a pool! The towels, tiny shower and crockery didn't look very clean. Once the beer garden emptied at 11pm it was nice and quiet overnight, until noisy people/staff in the next room from 7am!

We had to wait approx 5 minutes for a member of staff to speak to us when we went down for breakfast on Sunday.
Although it didn't affect us personally, I think the fact that there was a step down into the room from the door, and another steeper step into the bathroom should have been mentioned prior to booking. It could have been difficult/ dangerous for elderly people with any mobility issues.
Room and service was good.
Evening meal was good but expensive but for the price would have expected more than a bowl of rice and bowl of curry, watch out as well for the 10% service charge.
Breakfast was disappointing, American pancakes with blueberries, bacon and maple syrup, the pancakes were rock hard.
Good friendly service; wholesome; quiet location; convenient parking. Only downside was the actual shower: water temperature varied unpredictably, it was rather cramped, and - the usual problem - one of the doors kept coming off its runners
