I had an enjoyable stay at the Wheatlands Hotel. The staff were truely helpful and friendly the whole time. My single room was small but adaquate with a comfortable bed and a great shower. With a tiny car park parking can be an issue but the staff are used to helping with pointing out where off street parking can be found if needed. The restaurant is not always open for evening meals so dinning out is on the agenda and York seems to have a shortage of places with kitchens that are open after 8pm so a point to bear in mind. Yes I would stay again if I am that way again as it was I thought value for money.

The hotel is conveniently located near the train station and a short walk to the old town. My only complaint is the mattress on my bed was too hard.

A true gem and family owned and run hotel. From the very first minute I arrived I was welcomed with a smile A very helpful team -aMAZing! Guide for restaurants where locals eat. Will be back!

I visited York to attend a Conference and it was great to be able to stay at a quiet hotel, avail of their parking facilities and walk to and from the Conference near the train station. The service at the hotel was superb - very friendly, efficient and helpful.

Wheatland Hotel york
The hotel was in an excellent location, with restaurants and bars nearby. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, room clean and bed so comfy. Hotel appears very well maintained, has own bar also. Would definitely stay again.

Weekend away.
Nice hotel in a good location 10 minutes walk from the train station and 20 minutes stroll into the center of town. Hotel was well kept, clean. Reception was very friendly and helpful. They where happy to look after our luggage on checkout. Breakfast was excellent, good choice available and food was very good. Staff where all polite, fiendly and helpful. Bedroom was large, comfy and clean. We would be happy to stay again and would recommend the hotel.

Nice stay shame about the mattress
It was a very good stay apart from the mattress was either old or not a very good quality one. My wife was fine but I was basically touching the frame through the mattress and didn’t sleep well at all. Breakfast was outstanding quality and service.

Christmas period 2 night stay
Decor a bit dated, but ok, overall Hotel very comfortable and relaxing. Staff are really helpful and friendly, nothing too much trouble. Breakfast had a good selection. Handy walking location for York centre and Race course. Definitely would stay again.

Excellent stay! First time here but will certainly return to this hotel. Large room, clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely helpful, nothing too much trouble. We had a great time here and would certainly recommend the hotel.

Stayed here for 1 night on our way to Scotland. Lovely hotel, the staff were all very polite and the breakfast was lovely. I had a vegan breakfast and hubby a full english. Free parking at the back of the hotel and just a short walk into the town. Loved the Laurel and Hardy theme. Would definitely stay here again.

What a great place! Staff were all lovely, the hotel is well looked after, the location is perfect for exploring York on foot. Room was clean, bed was comfy, we will definitely be back.

Only stayed one night for a business trip but the hotel was a good find. Quirky bar, comfortable bed and great breakfast. Some areas were a little tired but overall the hotel was clean and perfect for what I needed.

Bit disappointed - the TV in my room didn't work, the room was very warm (heating on full) and the traffic noise when I left the window open made it difficult to sleep. Cleanliness ok but room was tired and could do with a re-furb. Mould in the bathroom. Breakfast - one sausage, one rasher of bacon and cold beans, 4/10. Service good and friendly staff.

What a great find! As regular visitors to York we knew that the Wheatlands is in a really convenient location but the service, cleanliness and staff surpassed all expectations. Does the room need some updating? Yes but breakfast, the staff and cleanliness make up for some chipped paint
