Decent hotel

A decent basic hotel, we were placed in the outside building which was quaint. Fire stick in the TV which was good in the eve. Comfy bed and decent shower. Breakfast buffet was a tad dire (selection of foods and really bad coffee) but they do make eggs to order which was good, I'd give it a miss and eat in Welwyn for the same cost. Location is very close to Welwyn, pub about 2 mins walk away does decent food.

If you’re used to a North American king or queen size bed, know that these are UK Double beds, so very small by our standards. It’s like a game of Tetris to fit two people on the bed. Probably better to sleep in two twins than try to share. Room smelled of perfume trying to cover the smell of cigarettes. Shower is a lukewarm trickle. Housekeeping “cleaned” the dishes but I know for a fact they did not touch the dish soap available in the room, so I don’t know how they cleaned them. Woken up every morning by the very loud sound of doors slamming. Front desk staff did not help us when we were obviously struggling to bring suitcases up the stairs. Just stood and watched. It happens to be a convenient location for us to visit family so we will be back, but choosing two twin beds next time. If you have other options for where to stay, take them.

Being upgraded to a suite free of charge was a nice surprise, until we later found out from locals why. This is something that potential guests should be advised of, ideally prior to booking but no later than upon check in. Given the situations that have arisen at hotels up and down the country due to locals not agreeing with people being housed in hotels, we should've been given the option to cancel the reservation ahead of arrival and book somewhere else.

Convenient but wouldn’t stay here again.

We were not impressed by this hotel. The room was advertised as handicap accessible but, although the bathroom was accessible, there was no way a wheelchair user could get into the bedroom which was very small. The room was outdated with frayed towels. The main hotel appears to be being used for immigrants so the hotel had a strange vibe with people hanging around. There was even a security guard stationed outside. There were signs about the potential for noise and we did witness a noisy altercation one night.

Clean and quiet

Plus - very clean, bathroom all new. Quiet room, very good breakfast. Minus - No quite enough room for two, room small for the price.
