"Great hotel"

"Lovely place, very clean, just beside a metro stop, nice terrace to sit outside in. Nice kitchen bit and bathroom. Lovely touch of a bottle of wine and biscuits. I was a bit confused about checking in - once in the building I wasn’t sure which flat was mine but there was a lovely woman cleaning the room that helped me. Would def stay there again!"

The room was absolutely fine in size, not massive, but I’m from London, so I know that European hotel rooms are generally small. "A friend and I stayed at Caleway the night before boarding our AmaWaterways Douro River cruise. We were delighted with the hotel and the staff. We checked in mid afternoon and went off to explore Gaia and Porto. Easy walk to/over the St Luis bridge. Upon our return to the hotel our room had no power and it was the only room without power. "The room was big, hotel and room were clean. The hotel restaurant is expensive, but staff are very polite, very helpful and super kind. Room cleaners were very good, I left tips on the table and they never took it, I wonder if it's a hotel policy. Breakfast was one of a kind. I encourage people to prepay your breakfast with the room, at the hotel price per person was 20€."

"Cons 1. Hairdryer was jammed when we checked in & the head had to be replaced as it was inoperable due to hair jammed into the head of the hairdryer. 2. The website says air-conditioned rooms but staff informed they are air cooled.The first night was very sweaty & uncomfortable to get sleep. Staff asked us to open the window for ventilation.This wasn't an option as this overlooks a highway & lot of traffic noise. 3.
