Charming, well-kept hotel and breathtaking views

A beautiful gem of a hotel situated on Mt. Varese, quiet and with an impeccable view of the surroundings. A great destination for a little getaway. The building itself is old, but charming and well-kept. Our room extended across two floors, with the bedroom on the bottom and the bathroom (with a shower cell, toilet and bidet) upstairs. The bedroom led out on a large balcony, providing a remarkable view of the mountainside and the lake. The room was clean and tidy. We went in august and the weather was very hot, with temperatures staying high at night. The rooms have no air-conditioning, which might be an issue for some people. We had dinner at the restaurant twice and enjoyed it both times, with good food and very fresh ingredients - remarkably so, considering the rather remote location. My vegetarian partner was accomodated nicely, without prior notice from us, which is always appreciated. The staff was always attentive, calm and nice. We very much enjoyed our stay and will gladly return!

Potrebbe valere molto di più, ma il giochino del parcheggio a pagamento, 15€ al giorno, non mi è piaciuto. Sulla scheda di Hotels, compare la dicitura PARCHEGGIO DISPONIBILE, dopo la prenotazione, ti arriva una mail che di avvisa che lo devi pagare. Sarà che vorranno recuperare la provvigione di Expidia? Sanno benissimo che non vi sono molti parcheggi in quella zona! Altro; non mi puoi proporre una cucina sofisticata e raffinata in montagna, da 75€ in su, la cucina deve essere semplice e che richiami il territorio. Non voglio la cucina da “Fighetti” in un contesto come quello, fallo in centro a Varese! È forse competizione con il vicino BORDUCAN? Del quale non approvo ugualmente la scelta, anche se la motivazione mi sembra più plausibile, cenette romantiche per far colpo sul partner. Comunque, l’ingordigia, vi ha fatto perdere un cliente, non per i15€, sia chiaro, ma per principio. La furbizia non sempre paga.

Ein ganz aussergewöhnliches, charaktervolles Hotel in sensationeller Lage über Varese. Der Ort selbst ist hoch oben am Berg und für sich schon eine Reise wert. Sehr freundliche Wirte.

Det var ekstrem vær når vi bodde der i 2 dager. Vi skulle gå i fjellene. Det var bare å gi opp det. Tett tåke styrt regn og kraftig lyn og torden. Vi fikk gått pilgrims ruten den var helt fantastisk sammen med kirken og alle små gatene. Vi spiste også en 8 retters på restaurant Colonne har aldri smakt bedre mat. Det var helt fantastisk.

Fantastisk beliggenhed og udsigt meeeenn,,,, Vi ankommer mandag, hvor der er lukket (restauranten). Får vores værelse og bliver gjort opmærksom på, hvilken restaurant der har åbent i nærheden, Det er fint og vi får reserveret bord og har her en dejlig aften. Men vi har især to forbehold overfor det "4-stjernede" hotel Colonne: Der er ingen aircondition - og der var varmt. Herudover: morgenmaden er decideret mangelfuld. Vi måtte bede om æg (det blev ikke tilbudt) for at blive mætte. Ingen ost og kun 3 skiver salami til deling. Udsigten er uforlignelig - men det bliver man ikke 4-stjernet af!

Die Lage des Hotels war ideal, um zu wandern und die Kulturschätze im Ort zu besichtigen. Sehr liebevoll eingerichtet, sauber, aber etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Dusche leider mit Vorhang und sehr klein. Parkplatz prima! Wir waren mit unserer Tochter dort und bekamen leider kein Zimmer mit der schönen Aussicht ins Tal. Der Blick Richtung Berge und Bahnstation war aber auch in Ordnung und hatte irgendwie „Charme“. Wir hatten Halbpension und wurden im Restaurant am ersten Abend leider in den hinteren Teil des Lokals gesetzt - auch ohne jegliche Aussicht. Am zweiten Abend hatten wir einen schöneren Tisch am Fenster. Das Essen war qualitativ in Ordnung und lecker. Aufgrund der Beschreibung der Küche und Kochkunst hatten wir aber deutlich höhere Erwartungen. Ansonsten sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter. Sommelier jedoch leider extrem wortkarg (keine Konversation über die angebotenen Weine, keine Empfehlung), jedoch sehr freundlich. Insgesamt alles etwas „oldscool“ - aber Preis-Leistung stimmt absolut.

Die Lage des Hotels ist genial! Es befindet sich in direkter Nähe des Weltkulturerbes " Santa Maria del Monte". Die Inneneinrichtung ist stilgerecht. Leider fanden wir das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis nicht in Ordnung. Die Küche wurde sehr angepriesen (ehemaliger Sternekoch), war aber enttäuschend!! Für den Preis hatten wir weit mehr erwartet!!

overall a great stay

the hotel was about a 8/10 but the service was excellent and the balcony view and space really made the stay. on the Monday night the restaurant was closed so we got ham, cheese, wine, bread etc., from a supermarket and ate al fresco on the balcony, which was wonderful The following evening we ate in the restaurant which was great and they catered for my gluten free requirement. We were treated to an amazing storm so we were able to sit on the balcony and watch - which was totally awesome. The parking was a bit tricky. 3 spaces downstairs and maybe 8 upstairs but a bit tight and you'll need to park up the way and walk down if you arrive much past 7 I would say.

Leider hat es keine Pizzeria die zu Fuss erreichbar ist, aber es lohnt sich trotzdem da die Aussicht einfach einmalig ist.

Lovely friendly family hotel

We stopped at Hotel Colonne for the World Championship bicycle race in Varese. We had an accident in the hire car and Silvio owner / chef looked after the problem allowing us to prepare a bicycle for one of the Great Britain team riders. Silvio's food and hospitality is also World class along with a selection of fine wines.

Tollen Hotel, Abstriche bei der Sauberkeit

Ein wunderschön gelegenes Hotel (am Berg über Varese mit Seeblick). Unser Zimmer hatte einen grossen, tollen Balkon. Das Frühstück war klein aber fein, und die Empfangsdame sehr freundlich. Im hoteleigenen Restaurant gabs ein Gästemenü für 30.- (Vorspeise, Hauptgang und Dessert). War sehr lecker. Einziges Manco war die Sauberkeit im Zimmer (sehr staubig und das Bad war stark verkalkt). Anreise mir kleinem PKW von Vorteil.

Nice hotel in mountains

Lovely hotel near Sacro Monte di Varese, lovely view and room. Staff are friendly, the only downside was the restaurant and bar were always closed.
