"We were very disappointed to discover the massive construction site abutting the hotel. It looked like a mess. Construction seemed to be going on much of the night. We decided to stay at this hotel because we were impressed by it during a visit years ago. This visit to LA was a special celebratory visit for us and we expected a top-flight experience. This was a disappointment. The staff did say they upgraded our room (appealing), though it still overlooked the construction. Also a complimentary breakfast."

"The rooms were clean and were very comfortable. The best part of this hotel is the staff. They were outstanding. Everyone I met was friendly and very helpful. I also ate at the restaurant at the top of the hotel, West. The bartender, Jay was wonderful. We talked while I ate at the bar. Definitely say hi and eat some great food."

"Perspective is important here. If you're coming to LA looking for a resort style stay, with fancy amenities and modern looking rooms, this ain't it. If you want a nice stay near enough to Santa Monica or other touristy spots with an AMAZING staff, this place is perfect. The rooms were quite old and in need of much updating, but the location, price, and staff were friendly, responsive, and supportive. We were barely in the hotel beyond sleeping, so this location was close to everything we needed. This hotel is for people that don't mind a more humble stay and are in town to explore, not be in their room. "
