Nice hotel very friendly and helpful staff but the rooms need a hard clean and the floor needs to be updated and it's soft and loose as when you walk in the room is makes a lot of sounds the floor boards have become old and loose this is not a new hotel it a old hotel but I will book again only need a good clean and a bit of a update on the floor Boards as there gone loose

Perfect location for the beach and restaurants. Overall the apartment was the perfect size for us - 2 adults and 3 children. Poor welcome from the receptionist; she seemed preoccupied with admin instead of attending to us for check-in. The apartment wasn't completely clean, dust around the shelves in the bathroom and bedroom. The leaking shower didn't help with the weak water pressure. Fridge door could be changed around for easy access The sofa bed in the front room is very old and overused not comfortable for adults however fine for 1 child. Swimming seemed to be full of debris however, around the poolside it was clean and there were plenty of sun beds. Great service from the bar/restaurant by the poolside. On our last night, they had live music which was just lovely

Good weekend away

Good value for money - had lots to do - near beach and restaurants ( 10 mins walk) staff helpful and friendly- having some work done so had scaffolding in front of our sea view but didn’t spoil our overall experience- would recommend for couples or families

The entertainment was ok and kids enjoyed , hotel is dated but clean and it’s refreshing blast for the past , a lot to do , swimming area are big and ok , nice place for family albeit dated. It was fun and in good area overall would recommend .

Great place

Great place to stay for a family - the facilities in the apartment and activities in the hotel are great and it’s close to the beach, Marina and Town Centre. It’s also not too far from the rest of the Riviera. We’ve lived at other good places in Torquay in the past, but this was by far the most practical and functional place for us as a family.

Didnt really need to leave the hotel grounds. Everything you need! Spa, pool, games room and plenty of bars and restaurants. Humble entertainment in the evenings. Lovely relaxing spa and we had an apartment which had also had a small kitchen if you wanted to cook yourself. Brilliant stay - for a family of 5 ages 39 -8 👍

The pre-welcome before we arrived with a phone call and email etc. advising of the entertainment schedule etc. was a fantastic touch, so was the professional manner of the staff member when I called to ask about an extra guest. On arrival however the welcome at the reception wasn't the warmest, both females on the front desk didn't look or sound the happiest but we're professional. We found our apartment which was very spacious however was showing signs of disrepair in places and lacking maintenance. Overall other than a few areas in which the cleaning hadn't been carried out; the apartment was perfect for our needs and great for a family of 4-5. It featured one large bedroom, with a separate living room off a hall with a TV, dining area, storage and a double sofabed. The bedroom had recently been decorated with a double and single bed, good to have USB sockets and power by the bed. The kitchen area was a good size however hadn't been cleaned properly. Nice sea view, and easy access to the car park and outdoor areas. We stayed room only so didn't eat breakfast, but the restaurant(s) looked good. We did eat lunch and had food at the pool bar (Aztec) the food was good and drinks were reasonably priced. The indoor pools are excellent and included, some work being undertaken to the carpark above, so good to see the scaffolding as a safety precaution above the pool. Facilities are excellent, plenty to do but the whole place needs some TLC Inc some safety hazards.

I have stayed at the resort numerous times and have always enjoyed my stay. Unfortunately this last time was not so good. The evening entertainment in the Derwent is always great but it was closed due to a private function. Giving an alternative in the Carlton which does not have the same ambience therefore not many people attended. This has put me off returning to the resort I’m afraid

while it may be an older property, it exceeded my expectations in many ways. The rooms do show their age, but the exceptional staff more than make up for it with their friendliness and attention to detail. The hotel offers a wide range of facilities that are perfect for families, including a massive games room that kept the kids entertained for hours. Both the indoor and outdoor pools are well-maintained and a fantastic place to relax. The evening entertainment was awesome. Additionally, the hotel's location is ideal, making it easy to explore the surrounding area. Overall, it’s a wonderful place for a family getaway!

Having 5 hotels in the same group use the same facilities has its advantages and drawbacks. Cheaper yes busy very ! Swimmers would love the pool and small children can swim in the smaller pools. Always book direct as you get better perks.

Great holiday

Excellent customer service and food in the restaurant. Bedroom was lovely and bright and airy but bed very uncomfortable with springs. Was given a mattress topper after complaining which made a big difference. We've stayed at TLH three times now and love it but hotels need painting and modernising, looking quite dated.
