"Parking ideal. Plonking new furniture in a room with very shabby decor, woodwork etc. doesn't cut it for me. I booked the double room with shared bathroom however the photos did not represent the room at all, the same photos were used for the double room with private bathroom. I was taken to my room up a very shabby steep staircase."

"Should have been better. Classy conversion not maintaining standards. Soundproofing of rooms is poor so you heat outside road and all the going ons internal to the hotel. Breakfast quality mediocre, not worth paying for. Reception on arrival at 8pm was deserted and took a few minutes for someone to appear, generally indifferent welcome. Won’t be staying here again. "

"Property was in a nice location next to small river. Room was dated…patio door fell off hinges when opened, headboards were in rough shape, toilet wouldn’t flush and had to fix myself. For some reason ours was the only room without card entry which was a bit of a pain! Also beds really firm. The front desk staff were helpful as much as possible. Restaurant was quite good. Overall was ok for what we payed. "

"People leave a 1 star or 5 star review for everything these days, so I see ratings like this and think “yeah, right”. Well, this time it was right… virtually flawless from start to finish. Plenty of spacious parking spaces. My host found the rate balance between friendly and not overly familiar. I was arriving late so I was sensibly put by the front door, presumably to not disturb other guests. The room was immaculate. I’ve stayed in some of the leading hotels of the world and Barncroft was...

"Great location for me Room lovely and clean with all amenities you could need Excellent communication Free parking with plenty of space Wi-Fi for free Very close to a takeaway in case you get hungry Self check in but a number was given to contact owners if any issues. Only downside , radiator which was working well stopped in the night and i woke up cold, however there was a spare blanket in the wardrobe. "

"Room was clean and nicely presented. There is significant building work taking place so restaurant not open (which they did pre-warn me about,), and skeleton staff. However, the staff were super helpful and friendly. Everything closes at 8pm ( bar, front gates etc) so not a place to stay if you are looking to relax of an evening outside of your room. "

"The room was very clean as were the reception and stairway but the rest of the hotel is still being refurbed, the bar was closed with no access to any food or drink. I am sure it will be very nice when it is finished. The staff were very helpfull."
