I had a very uncomfortable and unsafe experience at Hotel Laut Jaya.
The room was dirty, old, and badly maintained. The toilet condition was also poor, and the overall room condition felt terrible. More importantly, I did not feel safe in the room. It used a physical key, the doorknob felt unstable, and the window could not be locked at all.
As a solo traveller staying on the 2nd level, this made me feel very uneasy. I eventually decided to leave and book another hotel instead.
I understand there may be a strict no-refund policy after check-in, but given the poor and unsafe room conditions, it would have been reasonable to receive at least a partial refund for the unused nights. Unfortunately, the hotel did not agree to provide any refund.
Hotels.com reviewed my case with the hotel and was unable to obtain a refund from them, but they offered SGD25 in OneKeyCash as one-time compensation. I am not fully satisfied with the hotel's decision, but I truly appreciate Hotels.com’s gesture.
This review is not written out of anger, but to help other travellers plan better. Please check the room, toilet, door lock, and window lock carefully before staying here.
