I chose the Hotel Gamla Stan primarily for it's location, and it was wonderful! The staff was extremely helpful, our room was lovely and comfortable, and the breakfast was amazing. We were just down the street from the palace, across the road from the water, close to all the charming shops as well as NK, and a short walk to the Opera House. It took me nearly 30 years to return to Stockholm, and I can't wait to go back again!

If you want to be within easy walking distance to major attractions then this is a perfect spot. The hop on hop off bus picks up within a few hundred feet. Nice area with lots of restaurants stores etc. Our room was very small with minimal storage. NO air conditioning so double check that. Beds were fairly comfortable. They did provide a oscillating fan Breakfast was great! Fresh fruit home made breads, eggs, oatmeal, great coffee.

Great location & breakfast, but mixed experience with staff Hotel Gamla Stan is in a perfect spot—right in the heart of the old town and close to everything you'd want to see in Stockholm. The breakfast was excellent with lots of fresh options and a lovely setting. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and most of the staff were friendly and helpful. However, I did notice some uncomfortable behavior from the breakfast wait staff—interactions with guests seemed noticeably different depending on their background. It felt a bit off, even though the service itself was efficient. Overall, a nice stay in a beautiful area, but I hope the hotel works on making all guests feel equally welcome.

Comfortable and well located but pretty dated and dingy. Not what I would expect from a Hotel in this price point, definitely doesn’t have a luxury vibe, feels like it hasn’t been renovated since the 90s. Breakfast was decent.
