"The private beach was covered in seagrass when we arrived (the neighboring properties we not) so our plan to hang at the beach here was derailed. The hotel is super cute, though and staff was helpful. This is not a resort, it's a hotel with free (good) breakfast on the beach. By the time we left after 4 nights, they had the beach cleaned up pretty well but we we already used to hanging out at the beach club next door. The location is great and walkable to everything. I would not be opposed to staying here again but we paid for a beachfront hotel for a reason and didn't get to use the beach so I'd be apprehensive to book again not knowing what to expect. Could have just been a bad week seagrass-wise but most other properties didn't have a problem cleaning it up at all."

"AWA is great. We had a beautiful room with a tub in the second story and a beach bed there too. Great for hanging out looking at the stars. Unfortunately the beach was not good due to storms that had just hit. There were debris washed up and it smelled really bad. Due to the smell I couldn’t use the beds, swing , pool. The smell just gave me a bad headache. We had to go to other beach clubs closer to Punta Mosquito and pay to use beds and have a usable beach. AWA is far from town. About a 20 minute walk or $150 peso taxi ride. Taxis are usually available right outside and there is a small strip of restaurants, store snd pharmacy right at the corner. Staff was excellent! Gave us a bottle of delicious champagne and chocolate with fruit plate for my husband’s birthday. We only had 1 drink and appetizer at their restaurant due to the smell but it was good. If you go during rain season take water shoes! It was the best thing we had. Sandals are too slippery with all the mud and puddles. Holbox is amazing! I would definitely return but probably not to this hotel due to how far it is from town and the size of the beach compared to the other side."
