Room was nice, very clean and had the best shower I’ve had in Europe. Language barriers were tricky but we muddled through and everyone was very nice and helpful.

Loved this little gem of a place!

What a wonderful location to see all the sights in Rothenburg. Very cute hotel with a comfortable room! Breakfast was amazing and hotel manager was great! Hope to be back again!

A convenient accommodation in great location in the old town. Very simple but clean and functional room. There’s nothing in terms of services since the hotel is basically unmanned including fully self-service check-in. Good breakfast.

We are world travelers and this is a must visit town. Excellent location, breakfast and host. Nice room. Check in is in a barren room in front at what looked like an ATM.

Great location and great deal. The breakfast was a bit underwhelming and the insistence of staff to have everyone eating breakfast in one small room when a much larger room was clearly available, made the experience claustrophobic.

Hotel Hocher was great. It is a no muss no, fuss hotel. Easy parking, automated check in, clean and comfortable rooms. You interact with the lovely staff at breakfast in the dining room. Very close to the city center.

Mike was a great host and breakfast provider when we visited for a couple nights August 2023. Beautiful walkable town we particularly enjoyed the quiet morning walks outside along the wall and down to the river part of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimedge path.

Perfect for a couple nights in a great location

Overall enjoyed my time at the hotel. The location was great and had just what I needed for a 2 night stay. The appearance inside is a bit dated but that goes with the town and it was clean and comfortable. The fan in the room was a nice touch. Breakfast was good and the staff were very nice and friendly! Would book again if in Rothenburg in the future.

Quiet, convenient place inside Oldtown

This hotel more than met our expectations! The breakfast was tasty with many options for coffee or drinks. There was cereal, bread, multiple kinds of meat and cheese, yogurt, spreads, and hot eggs available. The room was clean, updated, welcoming, and comfortable. The staff were very friendly, answered any questions we had, whether in person or via email. The hotel is conveniently located within the walls, near a handful of delicious bakeries, restaurants, cafes, and the Christmas Markets. We will definitely stay here next time we are in Rothenburg ob der Tauber!

As others have said, it is an odd check-in experience. Your in a lobby with vending machines and an ATM, and do an automated check in that was straight forward and delivers your keys. The entrance is on the left side of the building outside the lobby, and you do have to climb a flight of stairs to the rooms. The place feels totally empty. But the room is clean as can be, has all the essentials, storage, windows that open for fresh air and a nice shower. And you're staying inside the Rothenberg wall! In the morning you go downstairs and see other travelers and have a lovely buffet breakfast and made to order eggs. The woman who maintains the buffet is kind and helpful, and suddenly the hotel is a welcoming place! The housekeeper was also pleasant.

The Best Ever

This place is amazing! You are required to use a kiosk to get into the hotel, which left us a little concerned prior to our stay. There is no staff present to check you in. However, When we got there, it was as easy as using an ATM. The key to my sister's room got stuck, but when we called, staff was there within 5 minutes to help us out. That was the end of any drama. Mike is the owner of the hotel and I think he got all of his training at Dick's Last Resort wher the staff picks on you at every chance they get. Mike made us laugh every morning. The breakfast was most excellent, the rooms were huge for a guest house, with plenty of storage, and everything was clean. But most importantly, the service was amazing! We left feeling like we had made a new friend. He introduced us to the entire family. He spent time chatting with us, and even purchased some mayonaise when my brother in law mentioned that he wished it had been available. Great location, great hotel, amazing Family!

The hotel is not well organized. On check-in I was asked to use a machine to checkin which did not reflect the payment already made through Expedia. Hence I paid twice for the night. The hotel acknowledged that and said they would refund the payment. I am still waiting for the refund.

My son’s room was on the west side of the building. They have no air conditioning and the room was very hot with direct sun. I called asking if they had even a fan and they said no. He said that’s just what happens when it gets hot outside.

Property has just opened so they are working out some kinks. Nice area but chek in is via machine and no one to answer questions. Like where to park after paying for parking. I was lucky to guess right. Breakfast was good and owner nice and helpful. Just not there when checking in
