"I have stayed at blue chairs for 9 years in a row. Because of the experience I had with Mario, the suupposivily manager, I will never stay there again. This location was always the choice for my annual vacation based on location. Yes the hotel is older, so I’ve come to accept it. With this trip, I was alone this year, wasn’t comfortable with maid service, so I used the do not disturb for 8 days. First night the AC unit was dripping, so with acceptance, I just put a towel down and also a towel to whip my feet off from the balcony. This is apparently where Mario informed me that I should wash my feet better every night before getting into the bed. So apparently, at check out, where I’ve never had issues, the young lady asked me to hold on please. Then came back and said I needed to pay a fee for extra washing. I explained about the balcony being dirty and the dropping AC unit. She called her manager over, Mario. He said they have to charge me as they need to do extra washing. I told him this was not my fault as the balcony is cover with dirt/sand and pigeon droppings. I had to whip my feet every time I went out and in then even to shower clean them. He said I should have washed them better. I said are you serious and also it’s a beach town, cobblestone, and flip flops. I said I’ve never been treated like this in 9 years, he walked away and said you’ll come back! Actually I won’t be coming back and I’ll be taking this as far as I can. NEVER AGAIN BECAUSE OF MARIO!"

"Room directly overlooking palm trees and the beach. You can hear the waves crashing with the door open. Staff was outstanding and room was very clean. The furnishings could use a bit of updating, but was adequate."

"The hotel was under significant construction for the entire duration of our stay. From around 10am until approximately 8pm there were jackhammers and loud construction noise throughout the property, which made it very difficult to relax or enjoy the hotel. During our stay the elevator was temporarily out of service, which meant guests had to walk up several flights of stairs to access different parts of the property, including the beach. On some occasions the usual stair access was closed, which meant guests had to pass through areas of the building that were clearly part of the construction zone, with debris and broken materials on the ground. The hotel was also quite empty during our stay, yet when we asked about moving rooms we were told it would cost an additional $75 per night. To be fair, we did not specifically check for construction notices before booking. However, after the issue came up we looked on the hotel’s website and could not find any clear notice explaining that the property was undergoing major construction or that key facilities might be temporarily unavailable. The staff themselves were friendly and helpful and were clearly doing their best, so this is not a criticism of them. However, the property in its current condition does not offer the experience most guests would reasonably expect when booking a hotel stay."

"I stayed in both an Adult/Executive and a Standard room. The former had more features along with a direct ocean view, but my Standard room was fine too. With a sideways view of the ocean. Both were very clean. The staff, in all cases, were wonderfully helpful, polite and cheerful. "
