"We stayed one night before a cruise. Room was clean. A/C didnt work great. Hotel restaurant is pricey. Staggering recommended a local pub which was great. Breakfast was pretty good."
"Great hotel ideally situated for anyone attending events at St Mary's stadium which is a short walk away. Around 15 mins walk from Southampton Central train station and Southampton High Street/West Quay. Breakfast was good and plentiful only negative I would say is that there isn't a lot of room to walk by people when getting breakfast items as space is tight. I would definitely be happy to stay here again and would recommend. For anyone driving the car park opposite for Solent University is great value if parking on the weekend."
"This really is a lovely hotel. Absolutely stunning location away from the road with a beautiful, peaceful garden. Restaurant was excellent and choice on offer was varied and perfectly cooked. I had crab, prawns, mackerel and pate with sourdough etc which was delicious although I would have been equally as happy with any of the fresh fish dishes. We wanted to eat at the restaurant a second night as it was so good but it was already booked up as it’s popular and non hotel guests booking to eat there.
For me the slight down side was the very hard mattress and our room was also near the kitchen so we could hear some sort of extractor going and had to keep the window near it shut. (Ours was one of the cheapest rooms so maybe other rooms don’t have this issue?) I would definitely book again and would say an outstanding factor was just how amazing, professional and friendly every single staff member was. It made us feel really welcome. Having stayed in many hotels I can say staff this good are worth every penny 🙂"
"The stay at Durley was fine . It would be great if you could have more parking space for the cars. The rooms were very comfy and the air con was a plus."
"Fantastic location with great views out over the beaches. Close amenities such as restaurants, shops, beach etc. Outdoor pool is lovely again with views out to see. Delicious breakfast with good selection of food. Helpful staff. Limited parking but does have EV chargers. Highly recommended"
"We had a good stay in a deluxe King Room. There was no a/c or fridge in the room which on such a hot day and night was very much missed. The last time we stayed (some decades ago) the breakfast was freshly cooked to order. Now it is a buffet affair which can never be as good. That said - the quality of the buffet was one of the best we have had. The service at breakfast was also very good.
The bacon sausages and eggs were of a high quality.............the coffee however was dreadful..........very bitter. The fresh juices were at room temperature - which on a hot summers day is far from ideal. I don't want ice placed in my fruit juice - but there must be solutions to serving tepid juices that don't involve putting ice in them.
Overall, we had a good stay and would definitely consider staying here again. We learnt that some rooms do have a/c so would seek them out in future."
"Hotel is a little tired. The lifts are antiquated and are frankly not suitable for a hotel like this. The main disappointment was the lack of parking space. In a party of six people with three cars only one off us managed to park at the hotel for the overpriced sum of £27 per night. There was no help available from the reception area as to where alternative parking was to be found.
Food is average to be honest and the wine is overpriced.
If I had to sum the Nici up I would say it is an aspirational in the sense that it aspires to be more than it actually is but is struggling in its current state to get there.
On the positive side, the bed was comfortable and the staff were in the main very good."
