Noisy heating and unusable internet
Heating was very noisy all night. Complained and it was the same the next night which caused loss of sleep. Internet connection is terrible (1MB/s) so couldn't work of an evening - mobile signal is non-existent too. Couldn't get a VAT invoice upon check-in but then had to wait a long time to get it on check-out as there was nobody at reception. Refurb is nice though - clean and comfortable. Lack of ability to work online and noisy heating means I will be staying elsewhere.

The room toilet seat was broken, mentioned it to receptionist who said they couldn’t move the room. The overhead shower didn’t work only the same hand held shower head. Room had no bath, the pipes were banging when shower was in use. There was a bare cable underneath the radiator in the bathroom. Food - over half the menu was not available, no steaks no fish. The reason we had book was due to the menu choices. This was a special occasion and it was ruined. When I complained with frustration at everything which was going wrong. I was told it states on the menu that items might not be available. Then told I wasn’t allowed to have a drink in the bar. We spent £60 on taxis to and from town to be able to have a meal. Absolutely terrible do not stay or plan a meal at this place

Great stay
I have been staying with friends at this hotel for over 15 years and the new look has made a vast improvement. The food and staff were fantastic. However the card only payment scheme and no vehicle electric charging station may put me off in future.

Booked a family room as we are 2 adults and 2 kids age 15 and 11 arrived only had 3 beds Shower was hanging off the wall , sink was blocked, the place is card only and sevice in reception is very slow as you have to wait for a member of the bar or a waitress to be free to come to reception Will not be returning

Turned up on a BB rate to find out pub was shut for refurbishment- although was refunded breakfast the last thing I wanted to do after a 300 mile drive was to get back in the car looking for food. Room was basic the shower and bath did not work as the water pressure was so low and only 1 sachet of coffee given which was very tight

Ok but not good.
Restaurant was closed when i arrived which was disappointing. Breakfast large but not that good. Menu wasn't accurate. Pie looked good but had been re-heated into a brick, also disappointing. Worryingly the main fire door was repeatedly wedged open with a bin.

Concrete pastry pie reheated to red hot but rock hard.

It was good and welcoming reception, with Tina, which is a lovely person, unfortunately when we did the checkout they tell us she left the job. But was a friendly staff around, less the restaurant, which wasn’t friendly at two nights in the evening.
