Villa Boscarino is special. It is a lovingly restored old building, yet with a contemporary edge in its design. The staff stand out, and the rooms are comfortable, and tranquil. Our breakfast each day was a feast of local meats, cheeses and fruits. Upon first sight the location of Villa Boscarino is a little bit of surprise as it is situated in a new residential area of the historic baroque town of Ragusa. However we stayed two nights and felt we got the best out of the area. The first night we walked through the new town, and down 300 steps into the historic old town of Ragusa which is beautiful, and with a good choice of restaurants. We took a taxi back to the hotel for a tenner. You can also drive and park in the old town for free. On the second night we explored eating options close by the hotel. We discovered a wonderful local bistro with all organic seasonal dishes, and a great venue with live music. Here we mingled with locals rather than other tourists. Its useful to know that there are local places to eat if you arrive late at Villa Boscarino as it is a good walk (at least 30 minutes) into the historic centre. Having said that the beauty of the walk and views make it worth it! We will certainly return to Villa Boscarino. It is a special hotel, combining a personal touch with its ancient architecture and cutting edge design.
