We chose Famiana because the Green Villa seemed to be a good value for an experience somewhere between a large chain resort and roughing it at one of the island's many "eco resorts." The assumption was pretty spot on. The Green Villa side is much quieter and more attractive than the somewhat rundown beach side, which seems to be hurting for some overall maintenance and troubled by neighboring construction. Overall, building maintenance and shoddy construction are the hotel's downfalls. The rooms feel rundown. The water runs scalding or freezing. With a toddler, this was a nightmare. The lights in the pool weren't fixed, but hung by their electrical wires. Amenities, like shampoo, seemed outdated or sun-baked. And in a garden view duplex with thin walls, loud neighbors are torture when trying to get a toddler to nap or go down for the night. Fortunately, the staff sell the place and treat guests well, especially the management. After complaining about the quality of our room, she seeked us out to improve our stay. We were very grateful to her for this kind of personalization. In the end, the staff were extremely professional. Overall, I commend the staff for acting like they genuinely cared, and I commend the manager for running a great team. As a result, I would recommend Famiana purely for its staff.
