Maitai Express Tahiti

10/10 Excellent

"Great location close to shops and the waterfront. Very helpful staff who have decent English speaking skills. Breakfast was minimal but there are good options nearby. No hair dryer but excellent AC that was super quiet. I would definitely stay there again!"

Tahiti Airport Motel

"This hotel is fit for purpose - the staff is super friendly and reception is staffed 24/7 due to the many late arrivals into Papeete airport. They have a fridge stocked with useful drink and food items to purchase at okay pricing. The room is dated but again, fit for purpose. There’s a fridge, kettle and coffee and tea (no milk).The aircon works well too. It is right across from the airport but DO NOT attempt to get there without a taxi. It used to just be one steep climb up from right across the airport but this has since been closed off. Having to walk all around the hotel and accessing it from the back with no clear signage and a steep climb up and then very steep downhill climb again to reach the hotel with a heavy suitcase is really unsafe. Taxis are not cheap but you have no other options! Expect to pay 2,000 XPF for a 2 min ride and make sure you have that handy in cash. To get food you’d have to take an expensive taxi again - round trip with the airport being the closest option. The hotel offers breakfast and cup noodles to use with the kettle in your room."

Cook's Bay Hotel and Suites

"The location and setting were very good. There a few things that did not go well. 1. The bathroom light was not able to be turned off, shining light into the bedroom all night. 2. My room was next to the tourism centre and drop off point for the cruise ships’ shuttles therefore was quite noisy at times and made the large balcony not usable.. 3. I was also bitten by a dog on a walk. Fortunately the pharmacy and doctor nearby were very helpful. 4. There were dogs and chickens walking freely through the property- some may not like this. Best part of my stay was the walk to the bar and the view and sunset- beautiful."

Polynesian Cabins by Kon Tiki

"I stayed in the “cabins” which were basically one floor of the hotel My key opened a room that then had about eight or 10 individual rooms off of it, and the key also opened one of those. The room had spacious nice bunkbeds, it was decorated well, and it was clean and very cute. I wasn’t sure how it was going to be using a shared bathroom system where you have to leave your room to go to the bathroom, but the bathrooms are individual locked rooms as well and some of them have showers and some don’t. It all felt very secure, safe, clean and upscale. There were also common areas for handwashing, etc.. There was a beautiful outdoor patio common area with a waterfall and comfortable seating. It had an area where you can make coffee or tea, get water, use the kitchenette etc. If your plan is to take a ferry, it really doesn’t get any more convenient than the Kontiki as the ferry terminal is directly across the street. In the morning, I had breakfast in the coffee shop downstairs, which was lovely and delicious. À la carte, pastries and items are available, but there’s also a large buffet if you’re hungry. Overall, I would absolutely stay there again, it was a great experience"

Tahiti Pearl Beach Resort

"In the mornings we put the sign on the door asking for having the room cleaned, and when we returned to the room, they had already cleaned it. The staff were very friendly at all times. On the last day our departure flight was scheduled for midnight so we requested to stay in the room until 6:00pm since we had nowhere else to go until the flight back home. The reception staff and manager were so kind to us, and extended our check out time from 11:00 am to 6:00pm for a fee of $250. That made it so easy for us to spend the whole day at the resort, and be able to have our room available to us until it was time to take a taxi to the airport. It was very helpful to us. The room was spacious and had a beautiful ocean front view. We also loved the adorable cats and a cute little dog at the property. That made us feel at home. We will return and visit again one day. It was a blessing to be there."
