The United States deemed Cape Disappointment strategically significant enough to base military fortifications there during the Civil War and World War II. "We very much enjoyed this lovely property. It was more spacious than shows in the pictures and the view over the river is beautiful. Even the cool, foggy mornings were enjoyable, drinking tea while watching the birds. The condo was stocked with dishes, utensils, and even some basic spices so we had all we needed. Close enough to shopping to walk, but far enough away to be quiet. I can certainly imagine coming back."

"On the Hotel.com website we had booked a two room condo with an ocean view. When we arrived we found that we had a lovely two bedroom standalone house but no ocean view. This was a major disappointment because that is why we booked in the first place. We had a great discussion with the local Seaside Homes manager and we discovered that there was a mistake on the Hotels.com site.
