"We stayed at By The River Bed&Breakfast for one night in August 2026. This is a large old house, with several large rooms set up for dining and a kitchen on the first floor, and six or eight guest rooms on the second floor. It looks nice but it could use a thorough refresh and cleanup, I've seen way too many cobwebs and peeling paint, and even a spider hanging from the light fixture in our bathroom. Other than that it was reasonably clean. We were hoping for a river view, but there's thick woodland between the house and the river. No front desk to speak of, you must show up between certain hours in the afternoon. We were the first to check in that day, and we were put in a large suite. Turns out that was not our room, and while we were out for a stroll and dinner, our stuff was moved to a regular room... Breakfast is included, you need to write down what you want and the time you'll be downstairs the night before, on an index card. Breakfast was OK, but not great. All in all it was all right, but this place could be great with a bit of effort."

"The hotel is in the midst of renovations. The new rooms are great and the older ones are not just dated but crumbling, especially the bathrooms. Broken toilet seats, shower curtain rods etc. Cleaning crew is short staffed and it shows. I would still stay there as itโs a very convenient location. I would just be sure to request a fully renovated suite."

"Toni cook & Shona front desk were very helpful, hospitable and welcoming. The food tasted great & there was variety and the food hall was spacious. Always clean and smelled fresh. My room was at the back of hotel and very comfortable. The only draw back was tiny fruit flies in room & bathroom, guess that's expected this time of year. I would certainly stay again. Spacious parking lot & i used the gym almost every day. Thankyou.. nice ice tea in lobby when checking in & great idea with fresh popcorn too! Love that"

"Room was reasonably clean. Bed was very comfortable. The fridge does not have a freezer so we weren't able to freshen up our icepacks for the cooler. There is an outside door and an interior corridor so if its raining you don't have to walkoutside to go to breakfast! Breakfast was pretty basic: 3 cereals, oatmeal, white bread for toast. Reg coffee and tea, oj and apple juice. They did have half and half as well as milk There were also homemade muffins!"

"The staff was fantastic and you should take advantage of the bar and restaurant. The weather was terrible one evening but the bar and restaurant more than made up for it. The sunsets are amazing and I'm glad we got the opportunity to enjoy it."
