This is really a country small town which is located and many resorts & hotels were closed. The hot spring in the hotel is really nice, but other than that just okay. The air conditioner cannot be adjust degrees and room and falsities in the hotel are old. But it is really clean in every corner inside the hotel.
Lovely attentive staff, delightful traditional Japanese rooms. Great views and Onsen, close to the bus for Alpine route, though not much else nearby in terms of shops or eating. We would happily return.
Only improvement point suggested is that we could not contact the hotel in advance by email, web form or expedia to find out if dinner was available - we got no reply. The answer is that they can do dinner if you order it that morning. For us this was an unusual wide ranging Japanese meal for I think Y5000 each, meeting our vegetarian needs (sometimes difficult in Japan!).
