May be overpriced for some for small reasons that could be overlooked like limited in-room coffee, only 2 bottles of water, no iron, the final touches that complete comfort. But, construction on a new set of rooms was annoying. It stole any chance of relaxing in our room or on the balcony. Expedia said only 2 rooms left when I booked. Upon arriving, we were offered a ground level room at the pool. Assuming people would walk past our not-so-private room, I asked for a 2nd floor room. One was offered near the construction. I was told no other room was availale, that all rooms were "full". Assuming we'd spend all day in Bagan, and the staff who said they construction was "not working" on Sunday, the room should have been fine. Sunday morning, we noticed no guest anywhere in sight. The restaurant staff told us everyone got up early to see the sunrinse. But another staff told us only four rooms were booked, that the property was empty. Sunday afternoon we got back to the room around two. We wanted to shower and rest and go back to the temples. But construction was in full noise mode. Electric saw and hammering was not helpful. At reception I was told yet again the place was full. However, it was NOT full and we saw only two other sets of guests during our 3-day stay. The front desk staff chose to lie rather than make us 100% comfortable and offer a room away from the non-stop noise. That was the most annoying thing they could have done, to lie. It was worse than the noise.
