"The dinner meal was the main highlight of our stay: there was sukiyaki, the best miso soup (perfect balance of sweet and salty) with mushrooms, sashimi, tempura with local veggies, chawanmushi etc. I’d argue that this meal was better than some highly rated restaurants in Takayama. The staff were extremely nice and hospitality was great, some knew a bit of English. We enjoyed the public baths. "
