I stayed five (5) nights at the St Regis New York. I enjoyed every moment of my stay. From the moment I checked in, to the moment I checked out, I was always made to feel welcomed and valued as a guest. People knew my first name and would greet me as such when I returned from sight seeing. The door men out front of the hotel are keenly aware of who the guests are, and promptly open doors for you, ask if you need a taxi hailed, or simply smile and greet you in the morning. The butler and maid service was excellent. I requested coffee for each morning at 7 am, and that request was executed to perfection. The gym was on the small side, but was always well organized and clean. There is an attendant who is there to assist you. The Astor restaurant was also excellent and a little on the pricey side, but, in my opinion, delivered delicious food and was convenient for an early morning breakfast before exploring the city, or for those late evening returns to the hotel when my feet were hurting and i just wanted to relax in my room, the option to dine in the hotel was there, and I was happy for that. Other reviews mentioned difficult staff or snobbery. I did not once experience that vibe. Everyone, I mean everyone, was professional, kind, courteous and genuine. The location is perfect, nestled between 5th Avenue and Madison Avenue, both major shopping hubs. Central Park and the train aka subway, are both about a 5 minute walk. I will definitely stay again. I highly recommend.
