Walls were very thin and hollow. Outlets on the ceilings posed safety risk. Bathroom was inconvenient and small. Bed was too firm and pillows were not plush. Lobby was a cute bakery.

Cute semi-traditional Japanese room walking distance from Nara Park and literally a minute from the Nara station of the Kintetsu line. Spacious room (relative to typical Japanese hotel rooms). Kind staff! Note that check in is only until 11pm. We were late but lucky the receptionist heard our cries and he had not left yet for the night.

I couldn’t recommend this place more. The staff are so friendly and kind and the room I had was amazing! Having the restaurant downstairs was so nice and they have great food and shaved ice. It was so close to Nara park (about 5 min walk) and is on a cute shopping street which leads to Nakatanidou. It was also right next to Kintetsu-Nara station. Even with all of the things next to it it was quiet and cozy. Overall 10/10 amazing.

I had just biked 30km, so I was exhausted. I was very happy to find a place so late at night. That being said, I still had a lot of difficulty sleeping. It was very noisy in the dorm. The pillow was hard and filled with plastic. There was also a bad locker room smell and it was very stuffy. There was a light shining directly in my face from the ceiling. The breakfast that was served in the morning was great!

Clean rooms and near to station
Awesome base to explore Nara. It is very near about 5mins walk from Kintetsu Nara train station. Near to shoppng and earing streets as well.

I lied the relaxed informal attitude at the hostel. The room was great, although the bathroom was quite small. Teh lounge was available for relaxing, eating take out food finding good beer. The breakfast offerings were fresh daily and inexpensive. The location was convenient to the Kinetsu line train station and a short walk to the deer park and other attractions. I recommend teh hostel for a stay in Nara.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The place was lovely, clean, spacious. The area was walking distance to the Kintetsu station, 2.convenient stores, and there were a lot of restuarants around.

Great Hostel
Had stayed in a private double room. Slightly small, but acceptable. Bathroom is so cute, very compact with bathtub 😆 Room & lobby clean and cosy. The lobby is a good place for breakfast and tea break. The location is great, along a small street of cozy shops. We love it.

Overnight in Nara
Stayed in Nara for one night. Staff was super friendly and helpful, everyone spoke English well. Check out was at 10 a.m., but they held my bags while I was sightseeing for the day. Very convenient location, short walk to shopping and sightseeing. I rented a private room. I was skeptical because it is a hostel, but it was as nice as any hotel I stayed on on my trip for half the price

We stayed in a private room (with private bath) at Oak Hostel Nara, and were extremely pleased with the accommodations. I was a little nervous booking here since it is a hostel, but you could not tell at all based on the size, decor, and overall quality of our room. The lobby was also very nice, and a great place to hang out. The location was also ideal for getting to the main sights in Nara. The only problem we had was that it was too long of a trek to walk from the JR station with luggage, so we did have to get a short cab ride from the train. Totally worth it though, especially considering the very affordable price we paid for our room. We will definitely stay here next time we are in the area!

Splendid and conveniently located hotel
Helpful staff spoke English somewhat fluently. The room was a bit small (one double bed), but it was enough for its affordable price. Wi-fi was pretty slow in the night (about 11 pm), possibly due to high bandwidth usage at this time. Room was cleaned daily. Also, it had private rooms, which was a must for us (a couple).

Our experience was more hotel than hostel and we were pleased. We booked a private room and forgot we would also have a private bath, a nice perk. The bathroom is tiny, and I do mean TINY, but it is adequate. Otherwise the room was very nice and the beds were comfortable. Our window faced a brick wall so there was no view. The location is great and the city is very walkable. Plenty of food and shopping nearby and the area around the hostel is nice and quiet.

Nara Hostel Stay
The place was very clean and the beds were comfy. I stayed here for 3 nights and did not have any real problems. The staff offers some bread in the morning from a local bakery that you can purchase for 100 yen. The location is pretty great as it is a 5 min walk to the subway and about a 15 min walk to the JR line. It is close to the main attractions in Nara and right next to a shopping area for convenience.

Oak Hostel Nara has definitely exceeded our expectation in term of location, cleanliness and services. Upon our arrival, we were welcomed by the pleasant and helpful staffs. When we open our room door, we were "wow" by the modern clean-cut feel of the room and its cleanliness. The room was also warm enough especially when the weather is rather cold during our visit. Two set of yukatas were also placed on the bed for our use. It is located very close to Kintetsu Nara Station and walkable to most of Nara's attraction sites. Definitely will be here again during our next visit.

The experience with Oak Hostel Nara was fantastic. We stayed in a private double room and, although small, it was clean and the air conditioning worked wonderfully (needed on a hot summers night!). The ensuite bathroom was small but clean and useable, although if you have bad knees it was quite a step to get into the shower so be mindful of that. The location is good for Nara park and places to eat, and close to one of the stations in town but not the JR one (not a problem for us). Staff were lovely and gave directions to nearby laundromat, and breakfast pastries were good. Really good wifi!

Amazing location

Pleasant private room in a pleasant hostel
+ Staff pleasant, spoke English. It's a hostel that also offers "Superior" private rooms + Easy to start interesting conversations with other international travelers + 2 minutes walk from Kintetsu train station + Room was very spacious (for Japan) + Free coffee, inexpensive pastries for breakfast (starting 7am) + There was a terrific, cheap hole-in-the-wall tuna restaurant up the street (away from station) - Impractical aspects of room. Big step down from bathroom -- we left the light on to avoid accident. And no table or chairs. (So we went to public areas to drink)
