The Via Inn Nagoya staff is outstanding. They were patient, professional, and helpful throughout a busy weekend that brought many needy foreigners to town - ourselves included. They never let on that we might be taxing them. The Via is convenient to the train station and also quiet. It is faultlessly clean. My 16 year old son and I stayed in two rooms, because rooms with one “large twin” bed were all that was left when we booked. This was a good choice because the rooms themselves were modestly sized.

Via Inn is located in NAGOYA SHINKANSENGUCHI. At first we had a difficult time going to the hotel because the Name of the BLDG is in Japanese. At the top of the BLDG is says JR Vi then Japanese. But over all VIA INN is an excellent hotel.

This hotel was clean and well appointed. It was such a welcome reprieve after traveling. The staff was friendly and got us checked in quickly. I would definitely stay here again.

Rooms were clean. Usual size of rooms in Tokyo/Nagoya area - a bit small. They were strict with the 3pm check in and 10am check out. Staff weren't accommodating.

As I have 2 booking separately due to the availability of the room at the time I booked with different room type, my room was upgraded. Thanks to the staffs and hotel so I stayed in room with larger bathroom. The room is very clean. The bed is soft but the pillow is a bit too hard as normally I use the soft pillow. The breakfast is good and included in room rate with egg (omelet or sweet egg) and meat (fish or sausage), vegetables, fruit, and variety of drink.

Not far from station. Breakfast is good with omelet/sweet egg and Sausage/Saba. Variety of drink to choose. Room size is Japanese standard but this room is equipped with large bath room (separate segtion of toilet and bathroom with bathtub) Staffs are really nice and helpful.

There is another VIA inn nearby so it may be confusing but the location is good and staff are helpful. They also assisted us to change rooms as we booked a smoking room by mistake.

Nice little place that I would use again.
The hotel is quite close to the JR main station, but you won't find it by accident. The logo is Vi for Via inn, you have to get quite close to see the full name on the door. It's a compact width hotel, right next to a Family Mart store. The staff are friendly, the room is about average for Japan, i.e. small but functional. You get a small fridge, a kettle and tea/coffee ingredients, all the usual bathroom items, and a decent breakfast.You also get wired and wireless internet.

Location is great. Close to Nagoya Station and lots of restaurants around. There's also a Family Mart right by the hotel's entrance. If you are looking to rent a car there's one right across the street. Lots of options for breakfast but it gets crowded very quickly and the sitting area is pretty packed. Room is good with all your basic amenities. However, we do notice a slight odor in the bathroom. It's great that they have onsite laundry as well. Coin-operated and you don't have to worry about getting detergent as it's inclusive.

Conveniently located near the JR Nagoya station with lots of restaurant options within a 5 minute walk. There's also a Family Mart connected to the building for grabbing snacks and drinks. We stayed on a non-smoking floor, but as the night went on smoke would creep in from the floors below, making the room smell of smoke. They provided an air purifier for the room, which helped a bit... We liked that the room was larger than most Japanese hotel rooms, and we were actually able to fit two suitcases on the floor! Breakfast wasn't great compared to other budget hotels in the area---Selection was limited to bread, rice, sausages, and black coffee. I would recommend only for a 1-2 day stay.

Breakfast is reasonable good for this room rate.
The room air conditioning appears out not reacting to the thermostat setting. Setting at 22C end up heating up the room to more than 28C. There's no English hotel name visible from a distant.

Poor customer service and never ever again
Was being treated terrible and horrible by Reception. I made two seperate bookings as the number of people of staying are different. At the very first day of check in, I reminded the staff to assigned same room for us for the connecting booking as the room type is exact the same and the staff said it is ok. However, on the day of next booking, I was requested to clear up all my baggage at 10 then check in back to the same room at 3. I don't see where's the point. I have requested the first day of having continuation of staying on the same room which I have already paid for. The most terrifying is that the rude behavior of the reception staff and throwing back the key to us which shocked us the most. Can't imagine with high standard of customer service in Japan would exist with such poorly behaved staff. Please take appropriate action to the concerned staff or no one will stay again at your hotel.
