It was a great place to appreciate winter and go skiing. The apartment is comfortable and of a good size. The social area delightful. The onsen perfect for a day in the snow. We had a great new year's dinner, thanks!
Country Inn Canadian House exceeded our expectations; it is classy and down to earth. Masao and Yasuko are fabulous hosts. Meals were nutritious and delicious. All rooms/facilities were comfortable and clean. Masao provided shuttles to and from town, the slopes, and the train station. We would definitely stay there again.
Masao and Yasuko are amazing hosts. Definitely recommend breakfast and dinner at Canadian House. We hired a car from Nagano and parked at Canadian House. We then drove to 5 different resorts all within 30 minutes. A really good option if you want to base yourself in Myoko and ski the nearby hills. Can't thank Masao and Yasuko enough.
Never had such delightful hosts.
Masao and Yasuko were always available for us.
The lodge is confortable and clean. It's a little bit far away from the station and the shops but Masao drove us by car whenever we needed to.
Furrhermore, at the end of the day you can also enjoy the hot Japanese bath.
The extra breakfast was filling and delicious.
We felt like at home and had a wonderful time.
I would definitely recommend!
Communication: easy to communicate with the owners via whatsapp prior to our arrival and once we were there to organise shuttles etc.
Staff: whilst we were there, the owners were away however Alex looked after all of our requests. He was friendly, approachable and always willing to help at all hours of the day.
Room: We stayed in the 'run of the house' room which had plenty of space. There was a heater in the room along with a (I dont know the name) small table you sit on the floor at and can heat your feet underneath. Beds were comfy, doonas were warm and 4 people could easily fit (two single beds and two bunk beds).
Bathrooms: are shared which wasn't an issue but just something to be aware of. They were always kept clean and well stocked. Showers are downstairs and the water was HOT which was great after a day up on the mountains.
Onsen/spa: readily available and plenty of space.
Food/Tea/coffee etc.: available free along with boiling water. We were also able to cook a dinner using various kitchen items that the staff kindly lent us from their kitchen.
Common areas: this place has a very warm, cosy feel about it. Lots of hidden treasures scattered around the place including board games and various ski/snowboarding memorabilia. Feels like an old school cabin that existed pre smart phones (in a good way).
Other amenities: there is a large room under the house to store your skis/snowboards/boots etc. where they are able to dry overnight.
Shuttle service: Alex kindly picked u
Masao and yasuko were the owners and caretakers they were involved in everything from a personal taxi and housecleaning to all the meals which they did very well they treated us like family for two weeks and I would recommend the country inn Canadian house to anyone
Excellent lodge. I’ve been in japan over the past three years to snowboard and stayed in 7 different lodges. This is by far the best one I’ve stayed at!
Firstly, it feels like home, extremely cosy.
Secondly, it’s authentically Japanese; even though it’s called Canadian house.
Thirdly, it’s really near the slope and extremely quiet; perfect for powder hounds!
Fourth, really cheap discounted lift tickets.
Fifth, extremely friendly and helpful old couple that manages the lodge.
Sixth, they make you bed and clear your trash Everyday!
Seventh, great local food prepared by the lovely couple.
And lastly, there’s a hot bath prepared for you to go back to after a cold day out in the mountain!
What else can you ask for? Thanks masao-san for the awesome hospitality!
