"This is most certainly an older hotel but the room was completely updated and had a super comfortable bed and pillows, great shower, nice Kerig coffee maker, fridge and microwave. The place was immaculately clean! We would only have hoped to have two bedside tables but there was just one. Parking was easy and just steps from the room. It felt safe and convenient to shopping and restaurants. We highly recommend staying here!"

"Check in was easy and the staff friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Son enjoyed the pool which was nice after long days at Laguna Seca. Close enough to fast food restaurants and grocery stores including some fantastic donuts at Monterey Donuts. Also being an easy drive to and from Laguna was great. If we are able to make the trip again next year we will strongly consider using El Castell again"

"The front desk staff was extremely friendly and made us feel welcomed. This encourages us to visit again. Our room and all facilities including the hot tub were clean and comfortable. Parking near our room was easy. The surrounding residential neighborhood was quiet and appeared to be safe. The beach is a 5-minutes walk from the lodge. Only drawback was that the motel is on the flight path for Monterey Airport. I heard large passenger jets overhead taking off at 5 a.m. Downstairs rooms might...

"The property is very clean. The bed was comfortable, however, the pillows were flat and uncomfortable. The breakfast was always well stocked and the breakfast area was clean and well attended to. The doors to the outside have a gap on the bottom that allows light and noise to come into the room. Adding a door seal could really help with that. We ended up having to use a pillow because the light was bright coming into our room. Overall it was a good stay. I would definitely stay here again."

"I had a very lovely stay! The location is great…very close to everything you could possibly need. The room was spotless and had lots of amenities…fridge and microwave were perfect! The bed was super comfy too! They have laundry on site and you can also refill water legacy was very helpful! Everyone I encountered was very friendly and helpful. I look forward to returning to this property and highly recommend!"

"Where to begin with this review... I was 45 minutes early and politely asked for an early check in. "That'll be 50 dollars". No thanks. That set the tone for the entire 3 night stay. The bed sheets were so cheap, old and worn, the cotton was "pilled up" in the spots where you would normally lay down on... It was just a constant reminder of how many people had slept on that exact same spot before. Disgusting. The water pressure was deplorable. Took 15 minutes for the shower to get from lukewarm...
