This is definitely an experience if you are looking for a cute retro hotel close to The Grove, Melrose (shopping area with lots of vintage stores) The Academy Museum and West Hollywood. Where this hotel falls short is the amenities and the staff. Cute pool, refreshing but not heated and the area around the pool is dirty. NO elevator, and from what I can read the elevator has been out of operation for years. Question, if guests are expected to pay a $35 per night "resort fee", why has this not been addressed yet? My guess is that it's really expensive to bring an old elevator up to code, and they would rather not spend the $. In regards to staff, some were lovely, and some didn't even acknowledge you and gave a bit of push back when you asked for clean towels. Your experience at the Beverly Laurel depends on what kind of traveller you are. If you are someone who doesn't spend a lot of time in the room, enjoy some character/charm in a place, and just need a place to rest after a long day of city exploring - I would try this property for a night or two. If you are someone who enjoys frills, for example - nice staff, REALLY clean room and surrounding area, room service, and daily housekeeping, I wouldn't even consider it. *Also, there are condo's being built on either side of the hotel. If you book during the weekday for the next 2-3 years, you won't need an alarm clock past 7AM.

This felt like Melrose place. It was small but quaint. We enjoyed the restaurant beside the hotel. The valet was a nice touch as well.

Good WeHo location. Cute property not quite as shiny as the pics. Swingers Diner and pool make for a good stay. $35/day “resort fee” includes valet parking (i.e., you can’t avoid paying for parking with your stay).

We spent six night at this hotel. Pros: Good, walkable location with access to many restaurants and shops and easy walk to busses. Reasonably priced Comfortable bed Relatively quiet air conditioner Easy off street parking. Cons: Except for check-in, staff pays no attention to their guests. When a group of travelers was making incredible noise at 11:00 pm with kids running all over the place and screaming, we asked if there were no quiet hours to be enforced. The front clerk advised us that the hotel could do nothing about guests’ behavior and the only option he suggested was to speak to the noisy crowd ourselves or to call the police. Remarkably strange! The elevator was out of service the entire time although staff was using it. Guests had to carry their bags up the stairs. No room cleaning unless requested the night before. We searched for the towel cart ourselves to get clean towels after three days. Bathroom lighting is dismal. Bathroom window cannot be latched shut which is a safety risk. Refrigerator, safe and clothes hanging space are all located inside the bathroom.

The elevator is out and the rooms need a thorough clean. The sink had an awful smell when you ran the water and all of the towels and bedding are really dingey. The music by the pool is also very loud and starts at 7am. Good location, staff at reception was nice and overall the property looks nice just needs better up kepep

The elevator wasn’t working while we were there, but that was only mildly inconvenient for us, though it could have been quite frustrating for someone who needs it to access their room and carry their luggage. Otherwise, the property is lovely, very charming, and was very tasteful renovated. The pool area is particularly beautiful and charming. There’s also a great diner just below, very convenient to grab breakfast in the morning! The person working during the day was very nice and friendly, although the evening/night attendant was much more grumpy and curt. Overall, great stay and would stay there again!
