The Royal Horseguards was a government building in WWIi and housed the Russian and US embassies. One the top floor was one of Churchill’s office. The front desk and concierge staff, especially the concierge, was excellent. The food service needs a new Director. The operation is disorganized, takes too long between servings and the food is overpriced. They need to establish a small pub or bar area that’s open from the lobby. The housekeeping is outstanding. The rooms are outstanding, and the hotel is very, very clean, we had a great experience and would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Older hotel and when we were there only 1 elevator was working. That was only negative. Very walkable area and would be first choice for next trip to London.

We stayed for 3 nights and had a King Room looking over the River Thames and the London Eye. The outlook was great and the position of the Hotel was fabulous for looking around the embankment and Westminster areas. However, we don't think it is a 5 star property. On our way back to NZ we stopped over in Doha and stayed in a 5 star Hotel - it was exactly what you would have expected for 5 star. The Royal Horseguard Hotel needs some refurbishment. The plumbing made a painful gurgling noise, the cabinet that contained the fridge squeaked each time you opened it and then one of the downlights fell out while we were in the room. The shower curtain was dangling on. It was not what we expected for the 5 star rating, which was a little disappointing as we were looking forward to a lovely Hotel at the end of our UK trip. I think each room needs to be carefully checked out in between stays to ensure everything is in the best condition it can be.

I liked the location and the cleanliness of the hotel. It was within walking distance of shopping and restaurants. The staff cleaning staff and valet were very attentive. The lighting in the bathroom could be better. The hostess at the restaurant was a bit snooty, walking by me several times before acknowledging me. I would definitely recommend the hotel. It was well worth the price.
