Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
I expected to be able to have a meal as the details indicated a restaurant but there was no evening food available. As they had few guests they also closed the bar at 7.30 pm. Odd as when I booked it indicated that there was limited availability. The hotel is pretty basic. The room was clean though and decent breakfast. This has slightly dented my trust in the accuracy of details provided on Expedia. I had been travelling around the north of England and this was the least value for money.
Staff very attentive & friendly. Bedroom 7 to warm & noisy pipe work from time to time. Mattress too soft & uncomfortable. Evening meal & breakfast very good.
Really good stay, strange atmosphere due to covid restrictions. Friendly helpful staff good food, albeit a limited menu, but again down to covid.
Would stay again
Very comfortable, spacious accommodation; we had the 'Castle Suite'
Location is reasonably quiet. Although not far from A66 trunk road this did not cause any noise issues, rather it makes the hotel very easily accessible.
Brough is in Cumbria but very close to borders of both County Durham and North Yorkshire; ideal for High Force, The Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.
Breakfast is superb with a wide choice and well cooked hot food. The dinner menu would be the weak point if you are staying a few days; it has limited choice but provides good food at fair prices.
The strength of the Inn at Brough is the staff who are all cheerful, helpful and ready to talk to you about their hotel, activities going on in the area etc.etc.
Great place to stay if in the lakes, very good helpful staff obviously picturesque area and views. Bed soooo comfy! Hotel looks dated outside as converted coach house but inside superbly clean and very unexpectedly modern a very big nice surprise !! Breakfast is excellent too. should have 4 star rating.
Excellent property, with very lovely staff, particuarly from the blonde lady who checked me in, showed me my room and was the waitress in the evening.
The facilities were propper nice with the usual stuff plus added extras. There was a fridge in the room with milk for you tea /coffee, a couple of books which you could take with you if you wished (they asked for a donation half of which fits to charity and half on a replacement book), a place for you to keep your shoes and robe should you need it. A bet nice place.
Excellent full English breakfast, omlette or porridge for breakfast too as well as cerial.
Lovely little coach house with all the comforts of home. Beautiful family room, pristine bathroom, lovely food and a friendly atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.
Extremely poor experience in the restaurant................45 minutes and my meal had still not appeared.....only 5 other diners in and they were having problems also................waitress very apologetic and embarrassed at the situation. 2 day stay, staff very friendly, but kitchen could not cope............spoilt the stay....
Very pleasant team at the Inn, spotless room, all very new

Liked: Staff & service
Our visit started badly at check in, as we were waiting at reception we could hear people at the bar, including hotel staff, talking about us in a derogatory way. The room was ok but small and stuffy. Bathroom was nice and well stocked. The glasses left with the tea and coffee tray were dusty and we had to ask for coffee. We ate in the restaurant and the food was reasonable but the experience was spoilt by noise from the bar. We were the only people eating and the ambience wasn’t great, having some background music would have helped. Overall ok but I don’t think we will return.
