This gorgeous hotel in a beautiful part of the country. The staff were amazing and could not have been more helpful or friendly. Food was outstanding and the rooms were very comfortable. There are no negatives this property we will definately be back
We stayed in one of the rooms in the annexe. Nice touch was bottled water and mints in a jar. Nice comfortable and quiet.

2 night stay.
Excellent restaurant. Room small but pleasant, but let down by a tatty, pokey bathroom. Only a bath because shower attachment did not work. Issues also with heating; could not turn the radiator off. Staff personable and welcoming.
This is a real find. Superb food, friendly and helpful staff. Great location. We would stay again, but we had the least good room, no 8, (no shower, and the over bath spray was broken). Our bed was very comfortable and the linen excellent. What a place to break your journey north, or have a foodie DBB. It’s under 10 miles from the motorway.
We had an excellent stay, the food and beers are of a high quality. The hotel is an old building which has been carefully restored/renovated. The bed was comfortable and the room was furnished with old styled quality furnishings. The area is very quiet Car park behind the hotel. Due to BT not rolling out super fast broadband to all premises in Ravenstonedale, The Black Swan has limited Broadband but enough to keep in touch. We will be staying at the Balck Swan again many times as it is a good stop off while travelling North and South on the M6.
We had a wonderful stay at the Black Swan all of the hotel staff very friendly and helpful. The food was exceptional. We ate dinner there in the evening and the breakfast had a lot of choice and were delicious. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Just a quick stopover. Friendly and comfortable with cosy feel to the bar area. Decor in room a bit TOWIE and at odds with the rural feel of the country pub and certainly not to my taste but room clean, comfortable ,and functional. V good quality food. 4 real ales on tap but all a bit similar
Unfortunately it never stopped raining during the two days we stayed there. However my wife and I enjoyed our stay. The staff are very friendly and have been there a number of years. Always a good sign.
A good choice of cask conditioned beers. Above average food.
Parked in or adjacent to car park but finding hotel reception was difficult. 3 or 4 entrances, all but one of which means carrying O/N bag through busy bars. Reception OK, shown to room, expected to be single but had double bed, a little tight. Food excellent but there is a need to book in advance if restaurant food required although as a lone traveller a space was found for me in the bar, plus good draught real ales. Room had outside street light on until very late and thin curtains. Bedside lights could not be turned off when in bed. Bed nice and comfortable. Towels excellent size and soft! Shower worked OK but could not use due to base of bath being like glass and dangerously slippy when wet, needs a bath mat. Does not mention the room has a 'Saniflow' drainage system that jumps into life occasionally without water usage. Limited residents car parking, 12 spaces for all then it is out on the country road. Generally an hotel worth another visit with a different room and experience behind me. The publicity photo shows a grass garden etc. it is across the main village road from the hotel.
We spent one night here as a stopover on the way up to Scotland. Food at the hotel was delicious, however portions are a little on the small side for some of the dishes so either order an extra side or plan a 3-course feast there.
We had room 12 which was lovely and homely. Lots of nice little touches throughout hotel like complimentary mints and sweets in jars. We'd stay again if we were in the area.
I loved this hotel! So nice, right in the middle of a tiny village. It was perfect. Room was excellent, food was fantastic, staff were very friendly, locals were really good to chat to. The only thing that went against it (and it didn't stay a bad point for long) was the lack of signal. The only mobile provider around here is EE and even that is flaky. WiFi wasn't great either. Then I thought about how I'd disconnected and realised it didn't even matter. Felt even more relaxed!
We had a wonderful 2 nights with great food in the evenings and first class breakfast each morning. It was perfectly situated for envigorating walks despite the wild weather.
Overall the Hotel was Excellent, Food and Staff Superb, and the Location of the Hotel was a plus being close to walks and sites to be visited
If you are not on EE or ORANGE, then at present you do not have a phone connection. The Internet was fine downstairs but not good in bedrooms, however, no phones or internet - A BONUS..... This is throughout the village and not just the Hotel - sadly, soon it will be all upgraded, just waiting on permissions
We had a very warm welcome from staff who showed us to a wonderful room, with its own external door, so we could take our dogs out without disturbing the other guests.
The dogs were welcome in the bar and spoiled by friendly staff and residents.
The menu had a good selection of traditional and al a carte choices, with half portions available for the smaller eater. There was plenty of scope for special diets and personal preferences. Breakfast had plenty of choice and flexibility, the full breakfast was delicious and set us up for a days walking.
Staff where very friendly and helpful without being intrusive, and had a good knowledge of the local area.
Great area for walking from The Black Swan for all levels.
