From one point of view, location is excellent - it is in the very center, you can walk to all historic places. From another, it is not reachable by car, so a cab driver left us far from the place as the streets are closed for cars. The same when we were leaving for the airport, the transfer was organized by the hotel but still we had to walk to another street when the car could come. The rooms are tiny and the bathroom stinks, as the building is very old. They tried to renovate it but they could have done less rooms but make them larger and with real windows and not the thing they made. When the hotel staff organized the transfer to airport for us, they charged is $50 which is more or less a normal price there and we agreed, but they joined us and another family in the same, without even asking us, and when we complained they gave us back only $10. In general, be very careful with money there, as people try to cheat you.

I liked the location and staff helpfulness. I disliked how long the heater took to heat up the room. It would be great if the toilet paper quality was better.

The hotel in the middle of the attractions.
Great location and clean hotel. It is just a few minutes from Sultanahmet tram station and a couple stops away from both the Grand Bazaar and Eminonu ferry boats. I'll definitely reserve it again when visiting Istanbul.

Location is perfect, close to the tramway station and to all the touristic sites. Breakfast buffet at the rooftop is good and have a good view. Everything else was average. (clean small room, tight elevator, pour acoustic isolation between rooms) Comparing to the price per night i do recommend this hotel.

Absolutely love the location of this hotel as it located right in front of Sultan Ahmet tramway station and nearby to many places of attraction. Rooms are small but clean and comfortable. Staffs are very friendly. However, during my second trip to Istanbul recently, I was transferred to another hotel because the receptionist has sold my room to a couple who did not turn up on the day for check in but demand for a room on the next day they came and the hotel sold my room to the couple. In my opinion, they should have transferred the couple to the next hotel because my booking has already been paid and confirmed. Even thought they have upgraded my room but still I felt unsatisfied because of the distant to the next hotel. The main reason I choose Star Holiday Hotel is because of the location and convenience to walk around. I would come back to the same hotel again but I hope the same situation will not happen again.

mixture of good and not so good.
The hotel has good and bad points. The location is excellent it is so close to the tourist attractions and close to the tram for transport. Inside the hotel it’s refurbished, clean and nice decor. The room has good facilities like kettle and teabags, fridge, heating and air-conditioning, slippers and a hairdryer. The bad point is the room is very small with hardly any space where you can put your luggage or clothes. The other bad point is the noise from some of the hotel guests and similarly the cleaners in the morning they start talking to each other and the soundproofing is not good. This is a problem for someone who is light sleeper.

Great Location small hotel
room is a little small but star holiday's strong point is its location. there is no complimentary water. bottled water is available at a cost of 3tl per big bottle. reception very helpful on arranging our airport shuttle at 25tl private transfer 1 way. very near hagia sophia basilica cistern blue mosque topkapi palace german fountain and grand bazaar. easy to go back to hotel if you feel tired then go out again after recharging. only negative is room a little small only about 12sqm. cleaning done every other day.

Very basic hotel with good location
This was our second time in this hotel but we only booked due to its perfect location. If one doesn’t mind an extremely basic hotel rating 2 star according to European standards with a basic, uncomfortable bed for the night and minimal breakfast then it’s fine. The hotel is reasonably clean. You really would only pay for it’s perfect location. It’s literally opposite blue mosque and tram station. Restaurants and other facilities are a few yards away. We were in Istanbul for only a day and location was important for us therefore booked it again.

This hotel is in a very convenient location in the heart of Sulatanhamet, at leisure walking distance to the, Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Museums, etc, and a Tram stop for other more distant ones, like Taxim or the Grand Bazaar. Is surrounded by restaurants and cafes, for inexpensive delicious dishes. We are in our 70s with mild mobility problems and only book hotels with level access or a lift. We booked our double room months in advance and emailed the day before announcing our late arrival. We took a taxi from the airport (80 TL) and the driver had difficulty finding the hotel because it is on a street where car circulation is restricted due to the trams, but our room (#104) was ready for us. The room was clean and tidy, with a comfortable bed and pillow, but very small and dark, with barely enough room for our suitcases on the floor and space for only one bedside table which was disappointing. The bathroom was also very small, with a sliding door, and although everything worked, didn’t have a shelf for toiletry and the shower was very small. Next day we negotiated a larger triple room (#211) for extra 20 euros per night that solved all our problems. It had more space and the bathroom was of a decent size, not luxury but with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The beds were comfortable but mattresses are shorter (1.8m), do not have top sheets, just the bottom one and a thin quilt, not a problem since the aircon was good. The single elevator is small for 2 people.

Rooms too small. Washroom smells. We were given a very small room and cotineous bad odor were coming from washroom. Had to keep the fan on in washroom on all the time. 2nd night paid more money to get a better room a little better but occasionally bad odor from washroom. Elevator very funny and take two people only very tight.

Love the Star Holiday
Istanbul is my favorite city on the planet and the Star Holiday's location cannot be beat. Literally in the heart of old Constantinople. There is a metro stop right across the street and more restaurants than you can count. The staff is excellent, breakfast is traditional and light and the view from the breakfast room is exceptional. It is an older hotel, so don't expect a lot of amenities, but then for my money it's not what's in the hotel that is the most important, it's what's right outside the front door.

Strategic Location to Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofiya
I book this hotel only for these reasons: 1.Walking distance to tram station. 2.Beautiful view of Blue Mosque from the Hotel breakfast cafeteria. Room is just enough for you to sleep. We booked a room with twin bed for €50. Both the room and bathroom are small, but clean though. Kettle to boil hot water is provided. The guy at the reception was helpful and courteous. There is a luggage room to store your luggage if you wish to roam around the city before you leave for the airport. Overall experience was good. The close distance to the Blue Mosque enabled us to go to the mosque to perform the daily prayer. Not recommended for a big family.

Perfect location for all Istanbul visitors
Breakfast terrace alone is a sufficient reason to book this hotel! How many terraces can provide the unobstructed view of the Blue Mosque and Marmara Sea like this? One of my highlights of my trip was the delicious breakfast buffet as the sun rises from Asia! Anyway, the breakfast terrace is not the only thing that is great! If you are seeking for an optimal location for sightseeing, this may be the best you can find. The Hippodrome is in front of the hotel, the Blue Mosque is a few minute walk away, and Ayasofya and Basilica Cistern are around the corner. Additionally, the tram stop is next door so you can easily go anywhere in Istanbul including the airport. Star Holiday does have few flaws though. The obvious one was the much smaller room than advertised; although I booked an economy room with two doubles, I was shocked to see an extremely tiny room that is sufficient only to rest. The floor insulation is poor, so every step upstairs sounds like a stomp. The Wi-Fi is slow, so you probably cannot upload your photos online. Nonetheless, these flaws are only glaring if you intend to stay in the hotel most of the time, which you should not do when you are in the city that is full of wonders! I still enjoy staying here, because the room is comfortable and has all basic amenities and the staff is friendly and helpful. Unless you need a luxury hotel experience, I highly recommend Star Holiday especially for first-time visitors to Istanbul.

Best location in the heart of Sultanahmet

Hotel is located in very nice place clean room with nice staff but the only problem is due to a machine sound you can not sleep at night, consider it that u are sleeping in a generator room.
