Not a fancy area by any means, but a very safe area even if you walk late at night alone. Streets are busy and full of people and life. Very clean place. Friendly staff. They do not speak English, but there is nothing that sign language and Google Translate can’t solve. Lots of food to eat and shopping to do around the area, and you are a short walk or a bus ride away from many important places in Istanbul. The area may seem strange to some Westerners who have never experienced such a place or vibe before, but it is a typical Middle Eastern street vibe: streets are bursting with activity and an unlimited number of people filling all the shops, bazaars, and restaurants. I feel it is a more authentic experience of what Istanbul is, rather than going to some of the fancier areas that feel no different from a mall in the US or Canada.

The guy in the hotel helped bring my bag to the metro. Google maps said the station was 35 minutes away by foot, but it was actually 3 minutes and the hotel person helped show me the short cut. You have to specifically request them to make up the room or they won’t do it. They give about 2 liters of water when you first arrive, but then don’t give you any more for the rest of your stay.

A nice local hotel. Spent 2 nights there. All of the people there were very friendly and helpful. The cleaning lady speaks in Russia(женщина, которая прибирает комнаты очень добрая и говорит по-русски). The room was good enough for two people. Clean. And every appliances worked properly. Спасибо большое за Ваше гостеприимство!
