"The pictures on Expedia and their website do not do justice to this place. It is a very impressive working winery and the rooms are well appointed. Breakfast and dinner in the restaurant were excellent though service was mixed when it was busy. My only complaint is that the ‘smoking area’ for diners is close to the outdoor terrace and with the prevailing wind it meant that you could smell and taste the cigaretttes at that end of the terrace - not pleasant when you are not used to it. I heard a number of diners complain about it. (Please move the smoking area, as it would make a very good experience perfect!) I would also recommend the walks around the vineyards that are described in the information booklet - though the red route is very steep up, the views are worth it."

"Amazing place, very clean and all areas well maintained, beautiful winery and you can do your own tour and visit a small museum and their cellars. Only con no spa or gym. "

"Our stay at Casa de Casal de Loivos exceeded all our expectations—and I say that in spite of some windy, rainy days! Bernardo was so gracious and helpful. Before we even arrived he was letting us know about road closures and provided directions for the best route. Upon arrival, our bags were brought in for us and he even volunteered to park our car. The complementary snack and wine were delicious and enjoyed in front of a cozy fireplace. Bernardo provided information for hiking, port and wine tastings and restaurants. They provided breakfast and we also chose to have the family style dinner in their dinning room two evenings—it was delicious and the service was impeccable. The common areas and the rooms were spotless and the beds and bedding so comfortable. The staff was always friendly and courteous. As you can tell, we would highly recommend staying at Casa de Casal Loivos! Thank you Bernardo for making our stay so memorable. "

"Great place to stay. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I went with a group of friends. One of our friends didn’t have a room and they called around other hotels and found a room locally. Also recommended a great area restaurant and when we checked out we left a phone charger in the room and they came outside to bring it to us. Definitely will stay here and recommend it to others. The place and the staff made it a wonderful stay. "
