Best Accomodations in the Avalon
I highly recommend Comerford Oceanview Suites if you want quiet, privacy, freedom from dealing with hotel front desks. Lovely people run this place. Very friendly and accomodating. Its like home away from home. We stayed in apt 6a. It was perfect for my son and I. Very comfortable. Definitely definitely returning, the next time we come back to NL.

A good location for exploring around the bay. Clean but the 1 bedroom unit needed repainting and a bathroom upgrade. Also people on upper floor could be easily heard. But overall a good value.

The owner unlocked the door for us and came inside the property and stayed for about 5 minutes which i thought was eerie. I had my 4 year old with me so I was more worried about him. The property was dirty. There were hair on the stove top, in the fridge, on the bed, in the bathroom. There was dirty floor, lamp shades were dark with stain or mould. I felt very uncomfortable at this property.

When I selected thie property the Expedia add said it had a pool which it does not. Also I thought I was getting a suite with an ocean view but ended up in a basement suite

Recommended!
Very nice accommodations and friendly couple that own the units. Very grateful for the upgrade during our second stay so we didn't have to climb stairs to our unit. Also, a shout out to Rita, the housekeeper who lives across the street, for helping carry our luggage up the stairs during our first stay! The units are about 30 minutes outside of St. Johns, but this is more of a positive than a negative!

This property is an excellent value. We were sorry to only be staying one night. We were met personally by the owners at the office and shown to our unit. This was much larger than expected and would be quite suitable for long term stays for a family. With only 3 of us, we only used 2 of the bedrooms. As other reviews have noted, the decor is rather dated and worn, but all is clean and well maintained. Many thanks!

The accommodation where very good. There was a good size bedroom, kitchen, dining area, living room. There were closets with lots of room. Good size TV internet provided. The accommodations were clean well kept. The Furniture was comfortable

We were in the area to visit family and booked through Expedia who did not notify the property,We were able to rebook on our own to stay there for six nights.We stayed in a basement unit which was damp and needed a good cleaning under the bed and minor mould in the washroom.The beds were comfortable and we had a good visit with family but unless we were hard pressed for a place to stay won't be rebooking.

Large 3 bedroom, very outdated. Needs a lot of work, with carpets and tub surrounding. Beds were great, very comfortable. We thought there was a pool but there wasn’t miss represented. It had air which was great and the location was nice. Holyrood was a lovely place to visit. Cleaning staff were awesome, we would have been lost without Rita.

It was everything we needed to enjoy the St John’s area. It was clean and way to access; easy in out from TCH. The amenities were as described WIFI, tv, fridge, stove etc.

Master bed was large and comfortable. Space large enough to accommodate at least 6 people comfortably. We didn't like that there was no basic condiments available and there was no laundry in our unit. If you have mobility issues there are a lot of stairs (at least in the unit we stayed in).

I was put in a bottom suite of a 4-plex, and I could hear every footstep, bang and water being flushed while other occupants were there. Unit not as advertised - NOT single cottages and NO ocean view unless you want to drive there. Also, not much information about checking in and out procedures and NO explanation of where to find wifi password (on the fridge!). Two TV remotes and no instructions

The apartment was quite spacious. I don’t mind it is a basement unit, but it should have been mentioned when we booked. The cleanliness was disappointing.

Bedding and couches were about the only good things to say about our stay. Not an ocean view as advertised, no deck as pictured (as our unit was on a second floor or a multi unit building, also not as advertised), check-in and check-out felt inconvenient to host, TV was a bit tricky to figure out and outlets were in very inconvenient locations. The layout and design of the apartment was just awful; the only windows anyone under 6' could look through faced the street and not the ocean, there were many examples of wasted space and poorly placed electrical outlets and/or furniture. Would not stay here again.

It was advertised as ocean view and that’s why I booked it. There was no ocean view. I asked why it was listed that way and he said, “I can drive you to show you the ocean.” And he laughed, I didn’t. There was no instructions for the tv and Bell modem. We never did get the tv to work all night.

We were put in a basement apartment it had mold and there were big black bugs in it. It was run down and the walls were filthy, the coffee pot had mold in it. The owners were really nice and the price was good and the towels were clean and soft. however I don’t know how this would get any stars from Canada select. This place is run down and old fashioned decor snd my bedspread on the inside was stained and covered with woosies, when I got in bed my sheets were damp it was like we were in a tent. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. Not sure what the upstairs apartments were like but the badement I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.
