Nice and quiet, Im assuming there WAS a bar that is no longer in operation. If it were open, it would’ve had a livelier atmosphere. We stayed for a night so that we could enjoy Miyajima Island at night and not have to haul our kids back to Osaka on the train. It was also nice to see the area early and later outside of the high traffic tourist hours.
The room is nice and the biggest we have had in Japan. It was very quite at night since there was only one other guest but on a different floor. Great free drip coffee and chill area downstairs.
The self check-in was easy if you use the pre-check in option. There is no staff but everything is explained very well with pictures in the book that is provided.

Good sized room close to the ferry, however the lack of ventilation makes the bedroom smell and feel damp. The bathroom was full of black mould that had not been cleaned for some time and smelt strongly. We had to wipe down the ceiling and walls ourselves and managed to open the window to air in the bathroom. If we'd arrived earlier we would not have stayed.
The room is very spacious for Japan standards and the location is good right by the ferry to the island. It might be the best budget open for the area.
But I really hate these complicated self check-ins. Ughh.
At least the off-site staff replied to my email quickly when I had trouble.
For a hotel that says it is 5 star it is nowhere near that
We had trouble booking in No front deck they sent codes after we left Australia there was no phone number to speak to anyone it was more like a boarding house style accommodation
Arrived at the 'hotel', in inverted commas because it felt more like a hostel, to an empty space that seemed eerie. After 40 minutes of trying to check in, and finally succeeding, we lugged our suitcases up a concrete stairwell to an awful room. The room smelled disgusting. The vent in the bathroom was covered in black dust as if it hadn't been cleaned in months. The 'window' is a small square at the top of the room that was greyed out. The 'television' was a projector on the wall. There was a long black hair on the table. We're both blonde with short hair. We contacted Expedia while still there, who tried in vain to contact the hotel so we downloaded 'Line' and contacted them ourselves. We left it was so awful. It took them hours to respond. We stayed on the Line chat because we figured they would sort of come in late and then state that they did respond. They did, hours later. After stating that their photos represented the rooms at the hotel they agreed to refund the second night. They have not done this and we will pursue getting our money back for both nights, but wanted to take a moment to detail this horror show.
