Suffolk Hotel at Haverhill
We had a great visit, and was a bit worried about the pub music when we arrived but the music stopped exactly at 11pm so there was no need to worry. Room was very clean / warm and the coffee machine was excellent. Breakfast was freshly cooked and nothing was too much trouble.

Staff appeared to have no training, had to ask for milk for cereal, butter, yoghurt. No marmalade for the 5 days, 2 types of cereal on offer and one of those ran out after 3 days, leaving only wheatabix available. What could have been an enjoyable stay in comfortable bedrooms was spoilt by the poor service and availability at breakfast.

Hi John, sorry to see you did not enjoy your stay as much as we hoped. I am pleased you liked the rooms and when I spoke with you it seemed you had an enjoyable trip. I am saddened to see such a low score, as I did explain that we were keeping the milk in the fridge due to particularly hot weather, but we got it as soon as you asked. We also have an array of spreads including 2 types of jam, honey, marmite and Nutella, unfortunately marmalade isn't that popular with our guests. I am sorry you found this so disappointing. We do hope you choose to stay with us again should you be in the area. Kind regards.

A noisy hotel, and they don't answer the telephone after 17.00 which is challenging when the Suffolk Hotel is not the name over the door so its very hard to find. Definitely one star.

Travelling on business and stayed in a single room-would advise asking for a double room if you need a desk. I bit quirky but lovely friendly staff who prepared a special meal for me as I was gluten free. Definitely worth a visit and makes a nice change to the big chains

A lovely hotel, with great service before check-in, I managed to figure out the late night check-in..just....and a lovely little room, well decorated and finished off

Cannot find it easily had to drive round twice before actually seeing the hotel. The room was clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed! There was no hand soap so had to keep using the shower gel to wash hands.

The location right in the heart of Haverhill was perfect for us and the room size was great. Unfortunately the room (particularly the bathroom floor) were not clean. There was no staff or reception around to assist, we tried calling the number on the booking but no one answered so instead had to email them with our issues. The kettle was mouldy but they did replace that for us. We were also only give one toilet paper roll at a time so kept having to ask for more.

Very good overall. Comfy bed, radiator wasn’t working first night but manager came and sorted it very quickly. Nice breakfast and tasty tapas for evening dinner. Parking was in a public carpark so had to pay for that. Would have been good if that was included. WiFi signal was a bit slow. Friendly staff and well equipped room.

Restaurant With Rooms
Easier to use the off site parking. Did worry if it was safe but no problems. Hotel strange in that it is more of a Restaurant With Rooms. The rooms are accessed upstairs from the car park entrance and the key is obtained using an access code emailed to you to open the key compartment. Good good. Only white toast at breakfast?! A couple of minor points I made will hopefully be sorted out before next person uses the room I was in. Altogether a good but unusual hotel.

Good room, unappealing location
The staff were friendly, the room excellent. The car parking was limited to 4 spaces in an untidy back yard - it was full when I arrived. The High Street location was unappealing to me.

Excellent location
Excellent location in the centre of town. Church bells ring every quarter of an hour but we closed the windows and it was fine. Beautiful room...loved the coffee machine! Pity the bar closes at 10.30 for residents. We did feel a bit pressured to drink up and go to our rooms, when normally in a hotel you can relax over a nightcap. Having said that we loved our stay and would go again.

Nine Jars - a great place to eat & stay
Nine Jars only started trading as a Hotel in January this year. The rooms are very well appointed and clean. The restaurant served a very nice eveing meal with plenty of choice and a good range of beers at the bar. Breakfast was also nice with a good menu selection, but no cereals. Also be aware as it is cooked to order, make sure you allow plenty of time. The building work work is still ongoing in the communal area between the restaurant and the bedrooms, but I think is should be finished by Easter. I would certainly stay there again
