A very quiet historical hotel with a beautiful garden. The staff were helpful and responsive. The restaurants in the hotel were excellent and happy hour in the lounge.
Architecture is beautiful - it seems we were walking into history. Service was excellent and technology inside was top of the line. We had a wonderful stay.
Beautiful historic hotel. The staff were very attentive. The onsen was quite relaxing with a nice view of the mountainside. We stayed in a twin room with a forest view and it was very spacious with a calming atmosphere and peaceful forest view from the room's window.
The hotel and our room was so beautiful and the service was great. While all of the staff were great, we were really impressed by the trainee bell hop who helped us carry all of our luggage and was very sweet. Highly recommend!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
This legendary quiet luxurious hotel was everything I expected. The room was clean and beautiful in a simple traditional Japanese way. The amenities are excellent. I enjoyed the onsen and sauna. The Japanese gardens surrounding the hotel are beautiful and relaxing. Also, do not miss out on having lunch or dinner at the French restaurant. The food and the service were exquisite.
The Fujiya Hotel is a historic gem in an unforgettable setting, with a staff that is extremely friendly, competent and professional. It’s a one-of-a-kind experience with a beautiful onsite onsen, and easy access to all the best that Hakone has to offer. Definitely one of my all-time favourite travel experiences!
The upkeep of the hotel, the attention to detail, and the quality of customer service were superb! It does not get better than this. The level of attention and responsiveness to each of us is as if there are nobody else at the hotel.
Beautiful hotel - what you would imagine as ‘old Japanese style’, but with all the comforts you need in today’s world. The people and service amazing. Great location to access the attractions all around the area - via using the very easy to use public services.
A beautiful Historic property. Staff was nice and helpful. Especially, we like to thank Yu for her help at the front desk. She gave me a lot of help. There's a bus stop 2 minutes away from the hotel. The only complaint is you need to make a reservation for dinner a day before, which I had no knowledge of when we checked in.
The Hotel is simply amazing
Historic and Pristine
And other than an issue with the Server at the French/Main Dining Room everything else was fantastic
Staff was extremely fine and you have to watch the Video of the 2018-2020 Gut Restoration to truly see what went into the Hotel.
It's a Gem.
As is the whole area
Don't miss the Open Area Museum
Amazing Japanese hospitality experience I ever had.
I have been to many different hotels in Japan and this is one of the best hotel I ever had.
The Japanese Traditional Breakfast was outstanding as well.
We will definitely come back again for special occasions.
Thank you very much!
Such a special hotel, really feels unique and traditional with exceptional service from staff. A great base to explore the area and their Kikkaso restaurant was such a highlight - one of the best meals we had on our trip. Would 100% stay there again
The hotel and it’s grounds were beautiful. The staff was very accommodating, but check in was too slow. The restaurant staff was very accommodating and they had a nice menu. Overall, we would gladly come back.
