"We had everything we needed to make our stay a really good one. The bed was really comfortable and the room was spacious and clean. Everything was catered for kitchen wise. "It’s not a purpose built hotel so rooms are designed around the architecture of the building and beware there are no lifts to the first floor We were on a corner room top of the stairs and it was a bit noisy as the floorboards creek people going past and it was quite noisy at the back of the hotel where our room was during the night. Because it’s quite an old building the aircon wasn’t that powerful so if during a heatwave I wouldn’t be booking this hotel. The room was also open plan in that you can see the bathroom from the bed but thankfully the toilet was in a separate side door. Decor was lovely , staff friendly enough and did offer to carry cases. Nice bar area to relax in and the restaurant looked nice but a bit pricey compared to what’s offered in the city. Walkable to the train station from the hotel and centre of town. I’ve stayed in many hotels and I’m just not sure this was worth the price , more style and personal preference than anything they can do differently( I need air con ) but I will be trying a different hotel next time when I’m York as comfiness of the bed wasn’t there to draw me back."
