"With all my traveling, staying at 4/5 star hotels, this hotel is in par with the Ritz Carlton Hotel. The rooms are different, unique, with my first night on the penthouse floor, with a rooftop deck off of the bedroom. The double head rain shower, is so lovely, it is hard for me to leave it. It is new, pristine, with top quality of everything. It has a Nantucket vibe, with its charm and ambience. The staff could not be better, and all, exceeded my expectations. There is little said about this, in hotel, spa, with the services offered, a wide range. The two restaurants, are amazing, with both indoor, outdoor and takeout available. The breakfast lunch menu has an enormous range of choices, and delicious. The evening restaurant, is quaint, charming, with an open kitchen, and the only restaurant I have encountered where they actually know how to make a proper martini. What speaks the most about these two restaurants, the local residents frequent both, which I have not even seen in any hotel, in any state, thus far. Selecting this Archer will be an excellent choice, by far, and will exceed your expectations, with every little detail remembered. The staff are great, the decor is impeccable, and cannot say enough 5 star quality details, met at this hotel. The location is perfect: it is at the beginning of the shopping, and excludes the classic tourist stores one finds farther down. It has changed my impression of Old Town Alexandria, charming and NOT commercial! "

"We checked in on a Thursday night and didn't feel welcomed at all. Our room was missing a luggage rack in the closet and after numerous request finally got one dirty wooden rack. The room smelled of dogs and was very old and worn down. Cleaning staff was amazing and afternoon young staff was helpful and made us feel welcomed. I definitely wouldn't recommend for those who don't have pets. If you're a solo traveler just looking for a place to sleep, it might be a good place to stay a couple of nights but I personally will not be back. I feel there are many better options nearby."

"We booked this stay expecting a room with a functional kitchen, but the layout didn’t deliver. The kitchen is essentially part of the main living space, which made the entire area feel cramped—almost like everything was packed into one box. With a king bed and a sofa bed already in place, there wasn’t enough room to move around comfortably. Breakfast could definitely be improved. The eggs tasted overly processed, and variety was limited. It would go a long way to rotate options—scrambled eggs one day, omelets another, etc. During our stay, there was no bacon offered, only sausage. There was also a cute/taco wrap station, but the cream sauce had changed color and the meat appeared dry, which was a turnoff. Location-wise, it’s about a 30-minute drive into Washington, DC, so keep that in mind if proximity is a priority. That said, the staff was awesome—very attentive, friendly, and responsive to our needs, which we truly appreciated. One final note: the kitchen equipment needs attention. One of the pots was chipped, which raised concerns about upkeep and cleanliness. Bottom line: Great staff, breakfast quality, and maintenance need improvement to match expectations. "
