"No responses to messages prior to arrival to ensure we could get a wheelchair accessible room. On arrival, the only wheelchair access was up an incredibly steep slope to a door that will not remain open, making access very difficult. Check-in was cursory and we were only asked about parking so that they could charge us £12 per night to park up a hill away from the hotel, as the hotel's 4 blue badge spaces were always full. We were not asked about assistance in the event of an emergency, which is as a minimum standard best practice for wheelchair-using guests. The room was unbearably hot, and the windows in the bedroom and bathroom would not stay open unless wedged. The bathroom window mechanism in particular was broken and obviously had not been maintained. Same could be said for the rest of the tiny en-suite, which everything had been crammed into with no thought as to how one would use it. The soap dispenser was so high off the ground that even being 6 foot tall it was awkward to use. Add to this the smell of drains, and you can get the picture. To top it all off, the lift was broken on the last day of our 2 day stay and we were forced to use the staff elevator to get to and from our room. This hotel is living off the vapours of the memory of Agatha Christie, but it's rested on its laurels and is instead in dire need of renovation and improvements."

"The room was small, but perfectly adequate for a short stay. The bathroom was nicely fitted out, the bed was comfortable and there were teabags, milk etc. which were replenished on the second day. The staff were friendly and helpful and parking was easy to arrange, although you do have to pay."

"The hotel is very old but it’s been updated in an appropriate manner. Our room was a little small but served its purpose. The bathroom looked recently refurbished. The parking was excellent and as a blue badge holder we were able to park outside the main reception and parking was free. "

"Lovely hotel, car park below with ample parking. Nice breakfast, huge beds, only critic is bath with shower. No walk in shower which with mobility issues did mean mom couldn’t shower. Lovely service and vibe, can’t fault the hotel. Thank you "

"Overall, the room was clean, including the kitchen and bathroom 👌 The check-in process was very easy—just a few clicks. I was a bit surprised that we wouldn’t meet anyone during our stay, but it all worked out fine. The location is central and easy to find. Both the kitchen and the room were well equipped (iron, ironing board, and hairdryer included), and the bathroom was spacious with basic toiletries 👌 However… there were a few downsides. It was very noisy - you could hear people in other rooms, in the corridors, and outside partying. There was also quite a bit of light noise - the radiator flashes all night if it’s on (maybe it can be turned off, but I couldn’t figure out how), blinds are meh, and there is huge gap under the door, so you can see light coming out of corridor. The biggest issue for me was the damp smell in the bathroom. Although it looked clean and newly refurbished, there’s no proper ventilation, so it turns into a steam room. Moisture seems to linger, and the smell is quite unpleasant - it honestly makes you wonder what’s behind the fresh paint. In addition, when we were packing, the fire alarm went off in the corridor. No process, no human on site. Thankfully nothing bad happened, but didn't feel safe. On the main fire board there is just handwritten instruction to fire crew. Fire crew which never came. Fine for a one-night stay, but I wouldn’t choose to stay longer."
