LIO HOTELS GROUP TREAT CUSTOMERS LIKE DIRT
The El Nido Cove Resort is part of the LIO HOTELS GROUP which also includes the Huni Lio, Seda Lio and a few others. I was booked into the Cove but at the last minute was involuntary "walked" to a much lesser property, the Huni Lio. No compensation was offered by Lio Group and they did not offer even an apology. I booked a resort (# 7 in El Nido) and ended up in a Motel 3 1/2. I highly recommend you AVOID THE LIO PROPERTIES as your holiday may end up in the dumpster. There are better more ethical properties out there that may WANT your business.

It was an overall great stay. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The resort is very private and quite. The forest rooms had some maintenance issues which hopefully they were able to fix.

Top notch resort for guests who are looking for a quiet island resort with modern amenities. Near everthing but preserves the island feel El Nido is famous for.

Arrive before dark
The staff is composed of 6 14 year old boys from what I could tell. And the floor in my room was never swept and dirty the entire stay. There was a pitcher of water in the room and no glass. I’ve enjoyed hotels much better at half the price in El Nido. Also it is not 6 km from town center rather a 30 minute trike which is scary in the dark. The breakfast gets 4 star but other than that the food was basically non existent. If you go get there before dark because there are roots to trip over.

I simply fell in love with El Nido Cove. Location is about 10km away from Municipal Hall (perfect for those who want a quiet/peaceful vacation). Stayed there for 4 days in their beachfront room for two (6 pax can actually fit in 2 queen beds). Price was one of the least expensive we could find BUT the room, food, and experience were more than what we paid for. Buffet breakfast didn't have as many choices but everything tasted awesome for something complimentary (menu prices for lunch/dinner are surprisingly budget-friendly). Other reviews say the place needs renovation, which I do not completely agree with because I think it adds up to the rustic feel (though i wish the restroom had a bidet) but the rest is good. All staff were always smiling and helpful. They can make arrangements if you still don't have activities to do in El Nido (super nice of them). You can also avail of their free kayak (waters in front of the hotel/resort have plenty of beautiful corals and fishes). Lovely sunset in the afternoon while enjoying the pool. All in all we loved every bit of our stay. Will definitely come back and recommend to friends.

This property was stunning. The staff were so kind and helpful. The views from your room are breathtaking. If you’re looking for somewhere to relax and be peaceful this is for you. It’s about 20 mins from town but close to Lio beach which was a great place to eat and explore. Would stay again for sure!

Beautiful stay
We decided to stay here as it was one of the only resorts we could find in El Nido at a reasonable price. The resort itself is located a 5 minute drive from El Nido airport and the hotel offer free airport transfer which was a bonus. The hotel was clean and staff were extremely friendly. The hotel is also a 5 min drive from lio beach and the hotel offer free shuttle to and from here too. The town is about 20 mins by a rickshaw which costs approx 300 pesos each way. The breakfast was average - not a lot of choice for vegetarians but other than that I would definitely recommend this hotel- the restaurant view is stunning and overlooking the sea. Overall I was very pleased with my stay.

This resort has so much potential if the staff had some training and the property maintained. It feels abandoned. The bathrooms are rusty, no soap, hand towels, blankets, water provided. The property is rundown with no maintenance, the bar has weeds growing up through the floor. The pool isn’t maintained and has no sun loungers nearby.

Our room was very spacious, the matress very good. It was quiet - apart fro the sea - specially during the nigth. It's a bit remote, there are no nearby restaurants, so you have to eat always at the hotel, except you are going to town, a 20 min. ride with the tricylce.

It’s a toss up
Service was excellent. Location not so good unless you want to stay on the beachfront throughout your stay and have some peace and quiet. Charged me more until you find out the locals pay much less pesos. Special trips like to a nicer beach is even a lot more pesos. Would recommend town proper if you plan to be there anyway for island tours, food and bars.

Amazing resort with a more amazing view.
Had an amazing experience staying here. The resort staff were always accommodating and very attentive, a huge shout out to Rodel who was always so nice and always had a chat with us. The wifi was not that great but still worked so wasn’t much of an issue for us. The view is absolutely the highlight. Amazing location. Would definitely come back.

Secluded, which means a 20 minute/300PHP trike ride from city. Food in hotel restaurant was very good, suggest chicken curry. However. Lobby/dining area needs updated lighting as it is dark and bleak; a fresh coat of paint wiuld help as well. Breakfast choices were excellent: fresh fruit, pancakes, fish, rice, bread/toast. Hotel offers no shuttle service to/from city/port, only to/from airport. If this were available, even at a cost, 5 stars all the way.

The forest rooms are very dark, although you have more privacy. The island hopping tour company arranged by the hotel was not good, and kept racking on charge after charge. You’d be wiser to stay closer to town where every single activity is.

Beautiful resort, perfect spot, stunning views!
Right on the quiet unspoiled beach, with stunning views. Some rooms are attached to the main hotel, some are seperate 'chalets' we were in a chalet, called the forest room. It smelled a little musty initially but this passed, it may have been the air con. However, it was clean with a large comfortable bed. Shower room was clean. The only draw back we found was no fridge or kettle. However, regular supplies of cold purified water in a thermos jug was provided on demand. No hairdryer. The food was very nice, although not a huge choice. Breakfasts were lovely (cereal, fruit, toast, pancakes,fruit juices, rice and various hot asian dishes). Kayaks were available for guest use, also a nice pool. Staff were very helpful and friendly throughout. We would definitely go back.

Great service, staff was friendly and accommodating. Location was pretty close to town, about 25 mins on trike. Room had a faint mildew/moldy smell but we weren't too troubled by it - may need to remove the floor rug to help with that. Like the property and thought the place was a good value. We took a kayak to one of the islands, was really nice.

I booked this room in early August of 2017 for me and my girlfriend traveling from the states. Once we checked in on 12/9/2017 they said that we could only have a beach front room(the one i booked for 3 nights) for 1 night because Expedia overbooked the rooms they had there and they had tried contacting me of the conflict. I have only 1 email from them a day before we checked in with our reservation and confirmation of 3 nights in that room welcoming us. At check in said they would move us to a smaller room in the back part of the resort and refund us for the difference which was actually less than the difference in cost blaming Expedia again. After a conversation with a couple of staff members we met again the next day, they said we could keep our room for the reservation I had originally booked because the other party that they had double booked for room cancelled. But then admitted that they wanted to take our room because we were only 2 people and another group wanted to book 4 rooms with 4 people in each beachfront room. The whole point of booking early was the space and enjoyment of that view regardless of the number of people staying in the room. I paid for that 6 months ahead of time. They lied to us in person. When I booked this resort, I read the reviews which contained positive comments. This is why I'm leaving this review is to alert people in the future. The point of the reservation is to reserve the room you paid for. I will never stay here again

A tired hotel in need of major renovation.
The whole hotel is dirty and reminds me of a bad version of Center Parks (a U.K. holiday camp where you stay in huts). The main room is the reception area as well as the dining room very strange, the food is aweful with breakfast having very limited selection. The whole place lacks energy. On the plus side the pool was nice but away from the main building in the garden. In the room no basic amenities like a kettle or coffee etc. It’s expensive for what it is, but I think that’s just El Nido in general. Instead book yourself into Lio Villas - much nicer and where we escaped to! There is also a new resort being built on Lio beach which looks amazing.

Poor location, quality, and value... nice beach
The lobby and deck outside is nice, but the room was disappointing, especially for how expensive it was. Resort is also too far and difficult to get to the town of El Nido where the boat tours occur. Trike rides to the town are 35 min+ and cost a few hundred php each way. WiFi is not available in the rooms so you must use the lobby. WiFi performance from the lobby and deck was also borderline unusable. The room itself was disappointing. The entry door to the room had huge cracks to the outside! You can actually see outside through the gap along the right and bottom side of the door. I'm surprised there weren't more mosquitoes or other insects in my unit since it's so easy for them to crawl in under the door crack from the outside. This also let extra heat and humidity into the room causing AC to work harder. The TV dresser was also the smallest I've seen anywhere. Expect to dig through your suitcases on the floor because there's no table surface to put them on. Another annoy thing was lack of proper soap dispenser. Why they can't provide a soap pump is a mystery.

I stayed in a beach front loft , it is about 20 meters away from the beach . Very basic furniture , no closets for your cloths , just a set of drawers , instant electric heater that does not heat the shower water , a small flat screen TV and 2 queen beds . No in room safe . Small AC for this size of a room specially during the day . Great staff specially Daisy and Ran from the front desk , our great chef Robert and our waitress Amie . The beach is good with no activities , tours can be arranged , we did not have a chance to try because of the weather . Very isolated and a van to down town costs 600 pesos .

Overpriced for what you get
This hotel is a bit of a strange one. El Nido is all about relaxation and island hopping in paradise yet this hotel has positioned itself as a resort and spa far away from the main attractions in El Nido. It is true that it offers a quiet stay, but for this, you sacrifice accessibility to the main town, which takes 20 minutes and 200PHP each way. The hotel has a decent pool and a nice garden dining area overlooking a beach, which I suspect you wouldn’t find closer to the town. However, the beach is rather sad and underwhelming - I feel it would have been possible for the hotel to do more with what they have. The rooms and the grounds feel rather tired and in need of redecorating and a bit of attention. For example, the main entry road is riddled with pot holes and doesn’t give a good first impression when arriving. The courtyard feels messy and doesn’t give the impression of a luxurious resort. Over all, El Nido Cove is a reasonably comfortable stay (despite the very hard mattresses!) - we had no problems with any of the services offered. However, I don’t feel that they can justify the premium price you pay compared to other hotels in the area. Should we visit El Nido again for a short stay, we will either stay much closer to the town to be nearer to the activities or nearer to Nacpan beach, which is one of the best beaches we’ve found in the Philippines (the closest comparison would be a beach in the Seychelles) however it is further still from town.

The best thing about this hotel is the location. We didn't have any good weather but I can imagine on a beautiful sunny day the views and the beach must be great. The swimming pool too with views of the ocean. The price is too high. The room needs TLC. We stayed in forest room 20. Big crack in the wall. The window above the door full of cobwebs and insects. The room was satisfactory but for the price we paid in Asia we would expect a far higher standard of accommodation. There is no spa and the restaurant is actually just tables in front of the reception booth. The resort is around 20-30minutes from the town. Taking this into consideration I think the hotel should look into improving the facilities for the guests. You are paying for the location. The private beach and the views. Don't expect to be wowed by your accommodation or the resort facilities

The hotel facility is nice, but a bit far from the main town, there is no shuttle bus, the hotel staff doesn’t reply to messages promptly. There’s no intercom inside the room, in the shower room there’s not enough soap, and the toilet is leaking. The cleanliness by the beach is somewhat questionable.

Let's be real. I didn't expect a 5 Star experience. Soley staying there for the beachfront room (which was worth it) . Horrible breakfast with very limited options. The chef got our omelette order wrong three times. No hair dryer. 25 min tricycle ride from the main town.

Overall good hotel at lovely Location, but graden
Two nights outside El Nido at a lovely Location with a very quiet beach and shallow water, great views. The hotel is good, the staff is very kind and helpful. The garden view rooms are quite Basic but ok but too expensive for their Standard. The value is that even by booking garden view rooms one can benefit from the entire hotel, its amenities, the great breakfast and especially the fabulous Location.

Nice quiet private hotel
Very nice quiet hotel with private beach, great romantic place for time with your special someone, staff are extremely helpful, away from el nido but only 20 mins away, getting to and from elnido is easy

Service was really good. Staff was friendly and pleasant. The down side is its quite far from the town area. Need to take a tricycle for 25 min to get to town and some part of the roads is quite bumpy. Hotel has extremely limited wifi and the electricity gets cuts from time to time.

Secluded hotel in El nido
We were fortunate to stay in el nido cove resort for 3 days. I can't say enough nice things about the staff, very attentive and accommodating. About a twenty minute trycical ride from el nido beach at about 200 pesos. It is very peaceful and not full of tourists. The complimentary breakfast had a lot of food variety, from homemade philipino food to fresh squeezed fruit juices that can be enjoyed with a spectacular view of the ocean. The pool was delicious, relaxing and offers a wonderful view of the bar, islands and beach. The bartenders make delicious cocktails. They have free kayak for use. We paddled to a secluded beach that takes between 30-40 minutes. Great exercise and fantastic view, highly recommended. I wish they had paddle boards. There are long stretches of beach so it's ideal if you want to take a long walk on the beach or jog. The downside/relief was that they did not have wifi; we had no outside distractions but it would have been nice if they offered a computer with Internet to look up trip details. The rooms were a decent size, you can hear the waves crashing all through the night but the bathroom can use some remodeling. Overall, best resort for the price. I will recommend it to friends and family.

Hotel is right on the beach, great location.
The experience was good. The hotel was decent but a little pricey for the overall value. This hotel does have an issue with bugs (lizards, mosquitoes, spiders) that can creep into the rooms so please beware. Other than that the staff were friendly and the experience was overall good.

Laid back get away
Awesome place to get away from the hustle and bustle of big city life. You are very well taken care of and pampered by the attention-to-detail staff. Very relaxing and comforting place to spend on vacation. And its views of the water and islands are spectacular. Our family's favorite among the five hotels/resorts we stayed.

Wonderful staff that was inordinately attentive
This resort was immaculately clean, with a wonderfully polite staff that was always attentive and went beyond the call of duty. I was upgraded for free to a higher priced room and was also given a complementary massage. The food was good, though not gourmet, which was fine as far as I was concerned. Amazing thing is that this resort was so quiet and one could look out onto the cove and see nobody for miles. Free kayaks took me to a deserted island without anyone in sight. I would recommend this to anyone. The rooms were fine though not super upscale as far as resorts are concerned.

We loved it! The staff there are just great and because of them this place deserves 5 stars. It could have better rooms but it's ok. The location, the arrangements are great and it's a real flavor of Philippines. I would go back there in a heartbeat. Best stay of my trip. Love Philippines because of this hotel and the people that work there. Real authentic food, chef cooked off the menu for us real good local dishes. Great views, quiet, by the water, stunning sunsets and sunrises!!! I could have not asked for more. Thank you, El Nido!!!
