good base for trips in the surrounding.
the only disadvantage is that it is not located directly behind the beach, but at the main road with a block between the main road and the beach. But of course you pay more for a location bordering the beach (which is very noice but not suitable for swimming: too shallow). The room was clean and comfortable with enough space, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Wifi was sometimes weak.

Cold showers only! Bed was too short for me, I’m 6’3” and my feet were hanging off, also we had to share a small sheet for our blanket. AC was nice, free instant coffee was ok, TV was super fuzzy. They can do laundry but it takes a while cause no dryer. Staff was super nice and friendly.

Stress free DIY Family Vacay
I booked for two (2) family rooms for 2 nights. Me and my family enjoyed our stay in El Nido, because the owner and the staff are accommodating, friendly and they always response to me. The room is spacious and clean, they also have a free flowing coffee which I enjoyed because I'm a coffee lover. They also arranged our van transfer from and to Puerto Princesa-El Nido and arranged our private island hopping. For me its a stress free vacation even this is just DIY Family Tour. The only down side is they don't serve breakfast.

Thank you all at Buena' Haven Travelodge
Very friendly and informative owners, presented with a wonderful smile and very happy to give advice and local knowledge. Found the room comfortable, no more than needed, but certainly no less either. Easy to get to and from. Quiet nights for easy sleeping. Helpful with the organisation of activities and consolidating of payments. My only minor negative would have been the desire to pay by card, but respect this wasn't an possible. Location not the best for really close options, HOWEVER with three wheeler bikes it's very cheap and easy to get around to anywhere you needed. I recommend you travel in and out using the private airport and Air-Swift unless you intend to spend any time outside of the close proximity of El Nido! The extra expense is worth it.

Nice Stay.
The hotel is a really nice place near El nido town, there are no bugs in the room, A/C works well and you have Corong beach at walking distance (perfect site for the sunset). Bring your own shampoo and toiletries, the hotel only provides soap and toilet paper.

Good value for money
Stayed there for 3 nights. Location was good, the host was very friendly and informative. Everything was satisfied during our stay. But wifi didnt work well and barely no signals but I heard it is quite common in El Nido. It was overall very good value for money in El Nido where accomodations are much higher than other places in the Philippines.

Ok place, best AirCon, would stay there again.
It's quite noisy location- dogs, roosters, tricycles on the main road are keeping constant noise level, but it's nothing impossible to cope with. Only thing we didn't like was the light in the room- too cold, so no real issues for the price you pay. Other than that our best stay in ElNido with the most modern (for Phillis), most efficient and quiet air-con (had a fan also). Nice building, nice room, nice balcony with partial sunset view (we had deluxe on top floor), Great and dedicated staff (especially the singing cleaning lady), clean rooms, great beds, no internet (as almost everywhere in ElNido), one of the best places to eat in town just next doors. Change light bulbs, add more of water pressure, a small fridge and larger wardrobe and this would be a top hotel. It actually did match what you see in pictures. Definitely would stay here again- our second best stay in three weeks in Phillis, just after a start at resort.

Decent stay away from crazy downtown
Wonderful staff. They clean the room everyday like a hotel. We were fortunate to have the upstairs back room which was nice and quiet from the road noise. There are roosters that caw at 4am. 50 pesos for tricycles to town. 300 pesos to El Nido airport. Had a nice scooter for us to rent to go to Nacpan beach. In general the room is pretty expensive considering the cost of everything else in Philippines. Perhaps El Nido accommodations are exceptionally more expensive. Things to improve: - room is dark...hard to read and see things. Maybe add a floor lamp? - improve wifi....0.5MB/sec if you're lucky. Usually better connection at late hours. - perhaps add a simple breakfast in future? Would help justify the cost. Thanks!

Favorite place in the Philippines
We absolutely loved it here. the air conditioner was efficient and kept our room cool. The hotel is located just outside of town, a five minute trike ride from El Nido so, while you can get to town quickly, you don't have the be right in the middle of the hustle and bustle. 5 minutes in the other direction is a small local beach that's busy but never too crowded. The hotel staff was unbelievable. They handled everything we needed and took care of us like family. Karen was very helpful in arranging our tour and scooter rentals. Michael even helped us get the hang of riding the motorbike. The cleaning staff came every day when we left the room and did everything from arranging our stuff on the dresser to folding all our clothes. Best place to stay in El Nido hands down.

Extremely friendly people and close to great spots
Don't worry that this is down in El Nido proper - it is a very short trike ride to the town. But nearby there is a variety of beachfront restaurants, bars, shops, and grocery. A very popular bar "Republica Sunset" is a very short walk and has an amazing elevated view of the sunset with great tapas-style food and drinks. The manager, Janet, is very welcoming and so are all of the staff. You feel a sense of community, especially since Janet lives right downstairs! Bathrooms were clean, A/C was great. There was only cold water, but it was so hot outside it didn't matter to us. There were disruptions in water. Once during the evening, the power went out in the whole town, but Buena's Haven quickly started up their generator.

Would not recommend
We booked a family room as there were 3 of us travelling and paid a top price for it especially for such a rustic place as El Nido. However, upon arrival we were informed that the family room we reserved and prepaid for is not available. So we were offered to be placed in a regular room with an extra bed which left literally no room to even walk around and was pushed up all the way against our queen size bed. Then the check-in gal had the nerve to inform us that we will be charged extra $12/night for the extra bed! And that's after we already paid for the family room with 3 beds included. I was lucky to have a printed out confirmation which I gave the hotel people to study. After that they agreed to no charge us extra $12 but they were still not able to put us in the room that we paid for. It was too late to look for something else so we had to accept this offer. The room was small for 3 people, there was no hot water and zero water pressure and no wifi. The owner suggested that for wifi we need to sit outside on the bench next to her personal residence door and try to get wifi from there. After reading previous reviews we learned that it's a common practice for this hotel to overbook and then try to accommodate guest in much inferior option, while offering no apologies or price adjustment. .

WONDERFUL EL NIDO
Excellent little hotel only a short 50 Peso tricycle ride from the town centre (that's per tricycle, which can take 3 to 5 people depending on their size, not per person). Good local shops/chemist and some restaurants, our favourite was Geen View - on the beach and with an excellent selection of food, including grilled seafood or bar-b-cue. They will organize the island hopping tours for you, at the same price as in the town and arranged a day trip to Nacpan Beach, which was worth the rough tricycle ride and the driver stayed there for the day to take you back. El Nido is not as spoilt and busy as Boracay, it has a more 'local' feel to it, but is more beautiful, I would say. The nightlife in Boracay might be better though, if that's what you prefer. For nightlife maybe stay in the Puerta Princessa area for a few days and try the TiKi bar there. No big shopping malls in El Nido, so if that's what you want don't go, but if you want beautiful beaches, clear seas and fresh sea food, then there's probably nowhere better, go there before it gets over developed like Boracay.

Weird smell in the tiny room.
Hotel was overbooked and they put us at a different hotel the last minute. We had to re-packed and moved back the second night. Lots of hassles. Our room smells like strong bleach and fresh paint and it gives me dizziness all night long. Do not recommend.

Wonderful experience here. The room was very comfortable. Only problem was no wi-fi in the room. The staff went above and beyond to help us when our ferry was cancelled, helping us book another hotel last minute, letting us use their phone, and more. That's the best reason to recommend them: they have the customers best interest in mind.

If you're a dog lover, you won't be for long.
Have any decent sleep is completely impossible owing to street dogs barking and howling at each other all through the night. I managed on average about 3 hours per night. Also the wifi is non existent in the room. You have to be within spitting distance of the hub for it to work. Overall unless you enjoy the sound of loads of dogs barking at each other, I'd avoid this hotel.
Response from Janet on 17 Feb 2016
First thank you for booking on us.And we were very sorry taht cause you inconvenience of the barking of street dogs.we already complaint it to the local government ,so we will waiting for there action ,we can't hurt any dogs in the street because we don't owned the dogs. Clean and comfortable
After waiting 2 hours in Puerto Princesa for the van to fill up with passengers, and a sketchy nausea inducing 5 hour drive through the night, we were glad to arrive at Buena's Haven. Janet was ever friendly and we kept her updated regarding the delay in our arrival (we arrived a tad before midnight). When we arrived we were quickly ushered to our room where we were greeted with cold aircon ahhhh. I loved how the staff would make up the room, very tidy and creative with the way they folded the towels, the kids were amused...i know this is a little thing but its the finishing touches that count! There was also a small coffee station on the 2nd floor and they also provided breakfast which we did not avail of. Overall we were impressed with the cleanliness and would highly recommend this place to stay rather than in El Nido town, where it is too congested. A tricycle ride into town costs only 50 pesos. There is also a beach just a short walk from the hotel and its the ideal place to watch the sunset.

EL NIDO
Pre travel, did my research and checked out various hotels in EL NIDO. My hit list was AC knowing temp was 32+ day and 26+ night time, warm to say the least. 2nd wanted a decent bed and WIFI would be nice to have. out of 7 only 2 came in and Buena's web site + previous comments etc sealed my deal. Not disappointed, place is cleaned every day, bed room are more than spacious, AC god send... and bed were big and firm ideally. Its not the Hilton, and if people expect 5 stars as in London they are not with it. The whole staff were nice and friendly, happy to help, and cleaned the rooms daily, changed the bed, towels, and its really nice place to stay. THE ACID TEST - I dropped a lid and it rolled up the bed, previous experience we a horror were the dust fluff ?? but the area was as clean as the room they cleaned under the bed it was spotless. Free tea and coffee on the landing, wifi can be slow in the rooms, but on the landing was a full sofa, chair and fan to lounge in if so desired. They organised the pick ups from and too airport 600PP - its a mini bus and takes 5-6 hours depending on wait time and number drops, its ac tho, but its £100 by private taxi so take your choice? its 50pp to the town couple mins by tricycle. would go back, and would stay here again, its a few pounds more, but we had 2 days where the power went off - they have own generator so our lights and fans strayed on.. its called a brown out locally =S

El Nido, Palawan... (no taxi, ATM or fastfood)
The owner, Janet was very helpful with arranging transfer from the Puerto airport which I did not realize was a 5 hour drive by van!! CAUTION... don't choose the late flight landing after 7.30pm because the roads are rough and very scary at night when the driver is going at 80km/h ... plus you miss the beautiful scenery. Anyway, the hotel staff were lovely and although power is out for 6-8hrs/day the aircon kept up. Going home we got up at 5am for a 11.50am departure, however the van driver kept stopping for passengers and we missed our flight by 25 minutes, meaning we had to purchase new tickets!

Away from the centre but not too far
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Buenas Haven for the whole 3 nights we spent in El Nido. The hotel is just 5 mins away from the centre of town and 2 mins from the bus station. You can catch a trike for 5 pesos into town or walk. Rufa is just amazing and really goes out of her way to make sure that your stay is exceptional. There is a safe to put your valuable when you leave the room. They put your items in a plastic bag with packing tape all around and then you sign the bag with permanent marker. The room is clean and spacious for a guesthouse/hotel in Asia. We had a flatscreen tv with satelite signal and free coffee and tea station right outside our room on the second floor which was always nice in the morning when you need a caffeine fix. Rufa will also make arrangements for any kinds of tours and transportation for you. We needed to catch a boat to Coron which left the day before we were to check out so she got us on a smaller boat for the right day. I would stay at Buenas Haven in a heartbeat when returning to El Nido. Definitely a pleasure!

Clean, wonderful staff, 1 minute to beach!
Myself and my husband had a wonderful stay at Buena's! Janet, her husband and her team were incredibly helpful, friendly and kind. It was our first time in El Nido and did not know our way around - they organised a van from Puerto Princesa, booked the Tours, and helped us whenever we needed. The accommodation was incredibly clean, with staff coming daily to freshen and put clean towel. There was good quality air conditioning and a fan within the room which was a wonderful bonus. Tea and coffee making facilities just outside the room. The location is wonderful - Corong Corong is quiet and beautiful and a 10 min trike ride from the centre if you are wanting to be in the busy part. It is only 40-50 pesos for 2 people into the centre - we would go in for dinner at night (or sometimes eat in Corong Corong). Beuna's haven is a 30 second/1 minute walk straight through down to the beach with a beautiful sunset.
