I loved everything about this hotel. This hotel is so much more than a place to stay. It is so full of history and displays of antiques from its Colonial past. Absolutely stunning!

We loved this hotel, great pool, good food, exceptional people. Paul, Fransisco and Vilma went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The kids enjoyed the Zorro show. We walked to the river and saw some cool birds and took in the friendly neighborhood.

I was really disappointed with our room. Came into our room I Realize a little water on the ground but not a big deal. When we step out of our room and came back in we realized there was a lot of water on the ground. Went to look for the service desk because this room did not have a phone to call. The Maintence guy came and said it was a internal leak and all he could do is put two towels on the ground. The manager couldn’t even accommodate us for the inconvenience. I told him I got a a toddler and what are we going to do if we wake up and it’s flooded and someone slips and falls especially my toddler didn’t say anything totally disappointment….

A nice place to stay
We arrived on easter sunday and the place was booked and very busy. They still managed to get us to our room in good time and we enjoyed an excellent supper. Though we slept well we were awaken by the neighboring roosters. We asked to be moved to another room and they were very accomadating. The next night we slept well and into the quiet morning. It is a pleasant accommodation.

Great hotel.
This great atmospheric hotel has large, comfortable rooms mostly set around floral courtyards. There is a warm swimming pool with chairs and a few loungers adjacent to reception and the open sided bar. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I recommend taking their very reasonably priced boat trip which involves being rowed along the river taking in the peacefulness and sights and sounds of the local wildlife. Although we only stayed for two nights I would happily return for a longer stay.

Stunningly beautiful, extremely well maintained. Staff were excellent. One of the most beautiful hotels we’ve stayed in. We can’t say enough good things about it

Magnificent historic hotel, a MUST
3 posh vintage villas turned into one magnificent hotel, it has so much history and the hotel offers a guided walking tour of the buildings and its surroundings. Do YOU know where El Zorro was born?

There was a very loud party outside our bedroom window from 0230 to 0600.....the management did nothing to stop the party ie talk to them or phone police and in the morning not even a sorry....all of us staying in that wing complained but didn't really get an apology from the management. So we were awake all night. the other thing we stayed two nights and both rooms did not even have a chair to sit on - there were some chairs outside the room but not enough for every room to be able to use. One does not want to sit on the bed.

It was beautiful. Very clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable and I slept well. Good air conditioning. Only recommendation would be more seating outside to enjoy the fountains and gardens and zorro.

A colonial style hacienda converted into a hotel, actually is a set of 3 buildings turn into 1 hotel. I personally love the old and historic buildings, I recommend walking around, looking at the history and all the details surrounding the hotel and next door museum, this is Northern Mexico. Also a boat trip on the river is fun. El Fuerte is a small town, service is too eager to help and get a tip, but that is fine. Do carry mosquito repellent, they got me the first day. They sell Citronella spray in the local pharmacy.

Beautiful Hotel with very friendly staff. The hotel provided shuttle service from the train station to the hotel and returned us back to the station upon checkout. Rooms are large,very clean and comfortable.

fantastic, take your own mosquito repellent
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Posada de Hidalgo, the food was great, and the service was top notch. Unfortunately one night of our stay there my partner got multiple bites on his legs, we think from mosquitos. The next morning when we were at breakfast he showed them to the wait staff who immediately pulled out a bottle of repellent to spray on himself. It seemed if they know they have a mosquito problem they would have it available or at least tell people that if they are sitting outside for meals in the evening they need to use repellent. So take your own repellent and be prepared.!!

We picked this hotel because it is a little bit more special -not too many occasions in life to stay at an old hacienda, so nice surroundings. El Fuerte is a small town, so all hotels are close with the central plaza. We loved the hotel and its surroundings- room was ok, comfortable bed, nice décor in the bathroom. However, because it is in such proximity with vegetation- we stay on the south area where the courtyard theme was tropical garden- we had a little lizard ("Mr. Hidalgo") in our room. We kinda joke about this- did not change the room and … "went with the flow." Two days after leaving Fuerte we met a young couple, they stay at an other hotel in El Fuerte and surprise, surprise! they had a similar story about their hotel room... Well, I suppose all area, because of its sub-tropical climate has little "creatures" all over the place.... We also attended Zorro dinner- food excellent, but the show was a little bit mediocre. We did not eat breakfast there so I cannot rate this. Coffee only- good service. Overall I think was a very good accommodation- certainly made some memories there.

This is the best hotel in El Fuerte, hands down. It's a beautiful, historic building. The rooms are spaciaous with nice beds and pretty good amenities. We aren't giving it the highest rating though because you would expect that for these prices you would at least 1) get free drinking water, 2) not have to leave an ID as a deposit for an iron, which every room ought to have anyway, and 3) receive food cooked by a chef who has a modern sense of gastronomy (they tend to overcook everything).

This hotel had the most comfortable bed on our whole trip to Copper Canyon. The hotel itself is very atmospheric, being the combination of three historic mansions, with beautiful courtyards and common areas. We appreciated that it was not generic in any way. It shows a bit of wear and tear, but that was not an issue for us. It is adjacent to the town square where we enjoyed great seafood at Mansion de Arantia. PS: If you are coming from Copper Canyon, be aware that El Fuerte is much warmer that Creel or Divisdero. We did not have lightweight clothes with us so we were a bit warm...
