Unfortunately it was impossible to control the temperature of the showers. Water was always scalding hot.

Slidt hotel

Good but dated
The property is in a brilliant location, only 10 min walk from the castle. The hotel is nice, however there are aspects of the decor which are dated and could do with updating.
The staff were fantastic and so friendly. We stayed in a standard room which was decent in size with a lovely en suite. My only complaint was cleanliness and there was an awful drain smell from the bathroom the whole of our stay. Everything else was fab!!!
Quite old building and not everything in perfect condition, but in overall clean and as expected for the price. Very close to City center and good transport link.
A quick freindly check in and and check out made it easier for two shy people ! The room was small and cosy and suited our needs perfectly, Perfectly located to local transport hubs so made travel very easy.
Condition was the only mark down as towards the ceiling of the room could do with some love but thats more to the height and age of the building more than anything !
Overall a great place to stay if your going and plan to various things and need a place to relax at night !
We where absolutely gutted we choose this hotel . Sorry but i have to be honest ! . The room was so small . Definitely not big enough for two guests .
The bed was dreadfully uncomfortable. Pillows we're so flat . sheets weren't clean .
Its a very run-down little room . Badly presented and dirty .
No inhouse maid either. Bed wasn't made up. Bins emptied or room/bathroom cleaned during our stay .
All in all i trusted the hotels photos on the hotel site.
We choose this also on the basis it was close to the hospital .
If we didnt have to stay the 2 nights . Just looking for a bit of comfort / safe & clean. Definitely didnt find it here . Such a shame !! .
Great staff, comfortable room, great for the price

Really friendly staff here which made us feel completely comfortable and there was clear one way system to use throughout the hotel. We also had sanitiser sachets available which came in handy. Room was ok but a few areas hadn't been cleaned. We had blood stains on the curtains which freaked us out a bit. If these areas were looked at then I wouldn't be able to fault the hotel.
The personal that received me was very easy-going, uncomplicate, kind and helpful, with initiative in some small details, so the stay was nice and I could work quietly and uninterrupted.

Average
Hotel was in great location, beds were nice and comfortable although we booked a double room and ended up with twin beds. Room was tiny! .. but was just for one night so we put up with it, and because of the location and price I would go back.
This is a lovely hotel in a good location with a very helpful staff. The building itself is a bit maze-like, but the rooms are huge and you get good value for money. We stayed for a couple of good weather days (rare in Scotland) and unfortunately we experienced the rooms as very warm as only one of the windows could be opened a little. We’d also really wish there was a mini fridge there to keep drinks/food cold. The shower is very sensitive so be careful not to scold yourself! But overall a very lovely hotel and we’ll definitely stay here again!
upon arriving, the reception area was lovely, but as we went down to our room we got a very odd and unpleasant smell. the room was very spacious. the shower was clean for the most part but there were watermarks on the underside, across the pole and shower head. there was a very large and dark stain on the curtain, the carpet was starting to deteriorate, with marks on it by the desk, the shower would’ve been lovely if it stayed at the right temperature as it kept going cold. i had noticed an email from hotels.com which asked for a quick review so i did, i said everything which i’ve just said. about twenty minutes later there was a knock on the door to quiz us on why the room was bad and wanted more detail which was very confrontational, although the lady was nice and understanding we just didn’t like that they came to the room, this was about 8/9 at night. i meant no harm or offence by filling out the review, just an honest opinion, i was then a bit nervous to go past reception and to check out after that. but despite all that it’s a lovely place, could do with updating such as new carpets, walls painted etc. but i know that’s easier said than done and i understand that
