"Great stay at Darwin Townhouse. We stayed in one of the garden rooms which was lovely. It had all the amenities needed eg hair dryer, iron, kettle etc. crisp clean sheets and comfy bed. The garden was lovely with seating areas for the nice weather. We bought a bottle of wine from the nearby wine shop and sat on in the garden one night. "A lovely hotel with excellent staff. Located in the centre of the town. Car parking accross the road at a NCP car park. Not suitable for disabled people as lots of stairs and no lift. Had a shower over the high bath but no bath rail was there to help slipping. Food good and I would recommend this hotel."

"Very good value! Large room in historic pub. Building is full of character with wonky beams and creaky floor boards, and our room had an incredible four poster bed. Everything was clean and linens were all good quality. Bathroom could use some minor retouching but was perfectly acceptable. We stayed in the peak of summer (30 degree days) and did find it was very hot and there was no fan in the room. "It is a very old hotel , and I expected lots of creakiness but it was fine , a really interesting building in the town centre with a car park . The only downside was the lack of breakfast ( no food available at all ) but it is surrounded by food outlets and pubs"

"A hidden gem! With character. Excellent value for money. Very spacious room (Room 3). Friendly, no fuss staff. We joined in with the locals in the quiz on Wednesday evening - great fun. Had the 2 for £20 meal deal - good belly pork. Nice real ale - Wainwrights. Good breakfast. Central location, 10 minutes walk from railway station."

"Check in was 15:00. I arrived at 16:20 and the room was still not ready. I complained to the woman at the bar which serves as the reception, she apologised, asked me if I wanted a drink while I waited and then tried to charge me for it! Not a good start to my stay. However, the room itself was lovely, clean, comfortable, modern and stylish. Extremely good value for the price and literally opposite the train station. Entry to the hotel is via an app you have to download, but it worked well...

"The staff were friendly and welcoming, our rooms were big and clean. The bar stays open till 12 which was good for us as had a long afternoon traveling. The usual hot and cold food for breakfast. The sausages are very tasty and there is gluten free bread and cereal which is nice to see. The mattress was a bit too hard for me but all in all a very nice overnight stay. We would definitely visit again. Thank you guys for being so nice and friendly. "

"A beautiful old inn with modern features in a setting that overlooks the Sevrn River. The staff is friendly and very efficient. The rooms are well appointed and excellently maintained. There is an elegant bar and restaurant where the food and drink was delicious. They have a great entertaining space outdoors where you can have a party or entertain a group. We had a fun and relaxing stay and would happily return."

"The staff were lovely with nothing too much trouble. The food was superb in an amazing dining room with proper tablecloths and napkins ! This is a wonderful 800 year old castle with no lift so, if you have walking difficulties, ask for a room on the first floor. The public rooms are magnificent but the bedrooms, while perfectly comfortable, would benefit from being brought up to date. Anyway, all in all a thoroughly enjoyable stay and we shall be sure to return. "
