Hotels in Downtown Historic District, St. Augustine

"The host was very kind I will say that but it doesn't make up for the unclean room. I found multiple strands of hairs on the coverlet making me think they don't wash in between guests and the couch in room was stained and rug didn't look vacuumed. They could also have a bad laundry service but wasn't worth the cost of staying. I get the impression that they are understaffed. I worked at a B and B. I know it's a lot of work. But for the price they charged, it doesn't match expectations. Another disappointment was the pool wasn't swimmable because it was covered in debris from the tree. The parking is quite a bit away. And you have to share a table with strangers with breakfast. I was going to mention the hairs on the coverlet but couldn't find anyone before leaving this morning and was on a strict timeline. "

"Breakfast was less than average. It is not to order you get what they are serving. It was crepe with fruit cocktail in it, literally must have been canned fruit cocktail. Then scrambled eggs on sausage and one bacon and potatoes none of which were good. The room was clean but the pillows and bed were very hard and the bathroom was so tiny. I know its and old building but the restaurant and bar area needs the carpet replaced and an old sofa removed and replaced as it smells musty. We did not have dinner there. The staff was nice so no complaints there. Great location."

"We checked in hearing how terrible Expedia was and that they will honor our free breakfasts but not the free drink every day. Didn’t matter what we said, the day and night manager didn’t care what we were supposed to receive via our Expedia bookibg"

"Breakfast was fabulous as was the location. Easy 5 minutes or less walk to a lot of attractions. Nice welcome email with door codes and WiFi password. The front door code wasn’t working so I could not access the interior of the building. I called the number on the front door and Kim talked me thru an alternate way to access my room. It was fixed by the night before I checked out. The B and B was recently purchased by new owners who I’m sure are working out some stuff. I would stay here again. Nice staff and other guests. "

"Unfortunately the fire alarm went off.We were in a handicap room. They did not have a plan. Security was to assist it but there was no security at that time of day.They were nonchalant since they knew there was no fire. Guest s did not know that and there is no PA system.If there was a fire it could have been disastrous. Hotel is fine and respects the era. "
