We love the Inn on Ferry Street and are so glad it reopened under new ownership. We live in the suburbs but love to stay at the end for a weekend, and go to the theater come in the museums and great restaurants. Each of the rooms at the end are charming and very comfortable. We love that breakfast is included. The is around the corner from the DIA and kitty corner from the Detroit History museum both are awesome and worth checking out. Chartreuse restaurant is just down the street on Woodward and it is fabulous. There is a queue line stop just across Woodward from Ferry street. Use it to traverse the city from campus martius to new center and back, with stops along the way for restaurants, sightseeing sporting events and concerts. We highly recommend the Inn on Ferry Street, it is a Detroit treasure!

The Victorian houses that are a part of the Inn were lovely, our room was large, the staff was very nice, and the fact that it was within easy walking distance to both the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Detroit Historical Museum was a definite plus for us. However, the fact that we had very little heat in our room during a very cold weekend was most definitely a big minus (we were told by a staff member that Owen House is not on the main line for heat); it averaged 66 during the day and 62 at night. We were provided with a space heater, but due to the size of the room, it didn’t do a very good job and we only felt safe using it when we were in the room and awake. The Inn should make potential guests aware ahead of time which houses cannot be heated or cooled adequately. Also, although the breakfast is served between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m, they stopped replenishing some of the food after 9 am (i.e. scrambled eggs).

The Inn on Ferry Street was a true-find for me. The (individual) houses are architectural treasures; our room was so beautifully and tastefully decorated. The included breakfast was great! Staying at the Inn gave one a taste of genteel (and luxurious) living in the mid-20th century, but at a reasonable price. Best of all, The Inn is within minutes of walking to the Detroit Institute of Arts where we were visiting. Also, being right near Woodward Blvd—the main drag in the heart of Detroit—we were able to catch (free) public transport to downtown and uptown. All in all, staying at the Inn greatly enriched our trip experience to Detroit!
