The Victorian houses that are a part of the Inn were lovely, our room was large, the staff was very nice, and the fact that it was within easy walking distance to both the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Detroit Historical Museum was a definite plus for us. However, the fact that we had very little heat in our room during a very cold weekend was most definitely a big minus (we were told by a staff member that Owen House is not on the main line for heat); it averaged 66 during the day and 62 at night. We were provided with a space heater, but due to the size of the room, it didn’t do a very good job and we only felt safe using it when we were in the room and awake. The Inn should make potential guests aware ahead of time which houses cannot be heated or cooled adequately. Also, although the breakfast is served between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m, they stopped replenishing some of the food after 9 am (i.e. scrambled eggs).
